Modulus Mob

Hey guys, I put the Q4 turbo w/2tek bridge up in the classifieds. If anyone from the mob wants it, I will give you an extra good deal, just pm me.

And a little something to lure you there:

Are y'all still giving out numbers? Because I'm now the proud owner of this Q4! (Sorry for the bad cell phone pic) It's got some dings, and the finish on the neck is a bit cloudy, but I only paid $1200 for it, so I'm quite happy given some of the prices these are going for right now.

I only have a tiny guitar amp to play it through at the moment (dorm life), but I'm loving the sound. I'm actually surprised how well it does a P-Bass type tone with the neck pickup soloed. I was expecting that great hifi sound with both pickups, but I didn't realize just how versatile it can be, which is great.

It's got some fret buzz at the moment, but it's pretty even till about the 11th fret, where it tails off, so it doesn't seem like there are any high frets or anything. Do y'all think raising the action at the bridge take care of it, or would I need to tweak the truss rod? Thanks for all the help guys. I couldn't be happier right now.

first off: beautiful bass!

I would get myself a bass amp ASAP if i were you. Even a cheap Peavey amp will help you be able to better hear the full range of frequencies your bass is putting out (don't cheat yourself out of the modulus experience).

You are right about it having a very versatile sound. it can cop that vintage neck PUP sound, or that growly bridge pickup sound like a jazz bass. i personally love both pickups at once. Just such rich, jazzy goodness!

AS FOR YOUR BUZZING QUESTION: From experience with moddy buzz, i would start by raising the bridge saddle height a bit. Only as much as necessary. THEN, if that isn't sufficient, tighten the truss rod on the neck (about a 1/4 turn). It isn't the same as a standard truss, it pulls/pushes the fretboard away from the neck as opposed to bending the actual neck. in my experience, the issues you're having will be best solved from tightening the truss. let the effects of the wrench adjustment sink in over a couple of days, to be safe. if this doesnt help the issue, try the opposite (turning the truss the other way), again let the efect sink in. one of these should help your issue. hit me up if you need further assistance.
