On to the 2010 Vertex.. Amazing bass. Too bad it is only a 4 string. Would be really great as a 5'er. Plays exactly as my bass pictured above which is a 1999 Modulus Genesis neck. There is pretty much no difference in the two. The Vertex has passive electronics which kind of threw me, but sounded great. Excellent definition and clarity. Wonderful fit and feel as well. Tonally we all know what the Bartolini's sound like. This is exactly that way without the push of the 18v preamp. I had to change nothing on my amp other than the 15db pad.

oh i believe ya i just had never seen that before.

Looking again at mine and the MT5, I would have to think that the MT5 post has the Maple neck wrap and it is not Alder.
IIRC, the neck offerings for the Genesis' were Soma (White Cedar), Red Cedar and Alder. I do not recall Maple as an offering for the neck

thanks. it's an abm. the abm's have a slightly larger footprint than a hipshot. plus, since they're from germany, they utilize 1.5mm hex screws (hipshots utilize .05" hex screws).

not to be a nudgenick, but is that a 34" scale 'b' string with the red winding backed off from the nut? looking on my phone and that's what it looks like.

it's just a pet peeve of mine when people string up a 35" scale bass with 34" scale strings. not only does it put a bow in the neck, it just makes me shake my head at sellers who don't 'know' the basics of the items they're selling.

anywhoo, enough venting. guess i'm just sleepy...

Why would it put a bow in the neck? It's still just a string, and fully wound at the nut.

shorter length. best example is to see it up close. i've bought a couple 35" scale basses where the seller strung them with 34" strings. if you sight the neck from the bridge, you can see the pull on the headstock.

The total length of the string has no effect on that. You could put on 34" or 36" strings of the gauge and it would have zero effect on the neck tension.

A thicker gauge will do that, though.

The strings are also quite rusty. Not surprising that place definitely buys guitars from guitarcenters used site and then jacks up the price and re-sells them.

Yeah, i noticed that too... and i don't think that top is chechen... maybe bubinga or koa?

I was thinking that too maybe koa? Or could just be a highly figured piece of chechen hard to tell without any actually documentation.

I didn't think Chechen came in that big of pieces. Which is why it was used as a fret board wood. Looks more like Koa to me as well
