I guess I’m going to try and get you started. What happened? In my experience it seems that they aren’t that excited to take my money and communication can be a bit lacking…
Hey, yeah that's definitely familiar. It used to be mine, it was my last remaining Moddy before I sold it. I tracked down, bought and installed the vintage LP pickups in it and I installed the John East pre. I'm pretty peeved to see that the guy I sold it to gave it to GC, what an awful thing to do with such a nice instrument. That actually kind of makes my blood boil. I hate GC.
Any idea what it was selling for on the website?
Are you trying to place an order for a new Modulus or trying to buy something off of the Planet Bass site of whatever he has left on the site?

Went to Luthier last week, and found my EMG BQC was consuming the batteries for 24 hours. That's why I had to change batteries that quickly. Although he knew the problem, he couldn't solve the problem because he didn't know where to start.
Hmm.. time to change the pre? I loved the tone of DC/DC and BQC. I saw some people used EMG with OBP or other pres. What do you think of changing the pre? Is BQC the perfect match for DC? I also have thought of changing DC to DCX.

have you contacted EMG to see if they can diagnose the issue first before switching electronics? they've been pretty quick with responses (in my experience) and have pinpointed the culprit rather quickly.

the only way the BQC could have been drawing current for 24 hours is for the cord to be in the jack, or there's a short in the wiring between the wires feeding the BQC
I always put my Mod into the case whenever I finish my practice, so it should not be a problem with the cable in the jack. Then I guess it is the problem of wiring problem. I'm planning to go to another luthier my luthier recommended next week. Hope he can help me with it.
I'm personally not a fan of the Aguilar OBP's, a little goes a LONG way with them, but I've only had them wired for 18v. It's all personal preference though.
Also, I have 40DCX's in my Q5 (with the EMG BQC), and I like them, but I don't know that I'd go crazy to change from DC's for them, IMHO there's a little more on the low and top ends, but other than that... YMMV of course, and it's been awhile since I had a Q5 with DC's, I was swapping out Barts in this bass so I figured why not?

I put a Mike Pope 4 band in a bass and love it. FatBassTone hooked it up with an extra capacitor and made sure I got the right pre. The passive tone in active mode is killer. Having high mids/low mids on a stacked pot is pretty cool too. All the frequencies have selectable center points with the jumper system. I actually prefer the sound of my Modulus with the epifani freedom preamp but those seem to be unobtainable and the tone only works in passive mode. But man does it cut in active mode. The pre overall has less available headroom gain than the pope. The pope preamp is super hot and you can crank it way up.

I have a Pope 4 band that I bought for another bass (also replacing a Bartolini pre- I do like Bart stuff, but not in every bass/with every pickup
) and have yet to install, have debated putting it in the Modulus, but then I'd have to get pickups I can run in passive/bypass... down the rabbit hole we go 
Is Pope go well with EMG Soapbar? I know Victor Wooten or Ryan Martinie use EMG with Pope pre but their pickups are EMG J or P. Pope with Modulus seems a great combination... Not sure whether it goes well with DC but I can also change it to another EMG if another one is better for Jazz and Metal.
You know, I have been playing Modulus for 23 years now. I cannot tell you all how much this forum means to me. Anyway, I love my Modulus.....All of them.
Same. 25 years here. The '98 Q5 remains my absolute favorite and
consistent soul mate out of all my basses. So glad for this thread.
BTW, sould love to see a recent family pic. I know you have some
coveted show stoppers.
