Morbid bass thought?

Loooonnngg time ago I was so enthralled by playing bass (still am) that I had the eccentric idea that when my time ends, I'd like to be cremated and my ashes stirred into a gloss lacquer and my main player gets a new paint job with that lacquer to hand down to my child if I were to have one. Well, had 3 kids and the idea revolted the wife and all the kids so had to backtrack and say I was just kidding about that story...but I was not....at the time I thought it.

Kind of like the guy who gets buried in his favorite sports car.
Would not do it now though.....maybe.

Perfect plan; your kid will probably tune the bass D-E-A-D in memoriam

I mean. Just bury me under a tree or something.

Or that Tibetan thing where the vultures eat you.

There's a painting on the wall of my main gig of a long gone player that used to work there. There was some of his cremains sprinkled onto the painting you can see..it's kinda creepy but a conversation piece for sure.

I am giving serious thought to having this Sadowsky follow me into the cremation oven. Or, the body at least. I ain't torching this Brazilian rosewood fretboard, that would be a sin very poorly timed.

Well that's certainly better than ordering your children to put a bullet btw your chin and nose if you are ever rendered a prisoner in your body. I think something happened when my father personally served his last warrant. After that he did the usual thing and found local LE or Marshalls to stand in front of the door of a guy with a prior conviction of manufacturing explosives. Never trust a Fed bearing a box of doughnuts asking you if you've eaten your Wheaties this morning.

I have to applaud the funny level of a lot of the responses so far.

Cremation results in a bunch of ashes. Ashes are mostly carbon. Some places will turn your ashes into diamonds (a form of carbon). Graphite is another form of carbon. Perhaps you can become the reinforcement rods on several bass necks in your after life?

I love my carbon reinforced necks. Now I'm kinda wondering who's in there.

Or pencils ;)

I kind of want my ashes used to grow sacred plants, such as B caapi or other plants used in Ayahuasca. Then eventually people can use the plants for shamanic purposes. Ayahuasca especially is heavily linked with the spirit world if you believe in that kind of thing, so I think it would be an interesting experiment. Maybe some parts of my "essence" would be infused in the plants. Would be especially interesting if my kids/ family were the ones growing/using the plants.

Twenty-five years ago I wanted my wife to have me cremated and have a small container hang in a chain around her neck so I could be close to... Well, you get the idea..... I sorta dropped that idea when I realized these days it have to be a reaaalllly long chain.
Yeah, that would round out my career. Be cremated into a pencil and have some kid toss me into the trash can because I “broke”.
Or get stuck to the ceiling as the result of a game.
