My guitarist recently turned me on to a band called Dysrhythmia that I really dig. Their bass player has a brutal tone, IMO.

I'd have to go with Billy Sheehan, in the song Desire (or Elevation, could be too), by the Winery Dogs.
My MP jazz bass before I took the frets off. Playing at the outer edge of my speed, it gave a really hard machine-gun tone, almost a cut-your-head-off thing with heavy compression:

Besides that, Chris Wolstenholme's (Muse) tones on Origin of Symmetry are intense, especially on Newborn and Hyper Music. All their albums have aggressive bass (less so on their more recent work), but on Origin, it's especially angry. That Animato...
