I like the bullet casing fretmarkers and the lit tube between the pickups. Outrageously cool to hang on the wall. It has a tiny clock on it. Could be a wall clock. The clock works right? Damn clock better work...

I've been thinking for quite some time an aluminum center section you could form some vacuum bagged CF upper and lower pieces would make for a sexy looking piece, but i'm funny that way. I've been pondering on it since i first saw a picture of a CF bodied upright bass. I was thinking more utilitarian on the center section then basically lay up bouts in whatever shape you wanted. You could take it a step further and standardize the mounts for the bouts and if/when you got tired of the same old same O, just snag up a different set of body wings.

I really like Steampunk style - it seems that it would be a natural for some amps with cool dials and levers and gauges, etc.!

My wife gave me this Japanese "Raven" brand "sort-of Jazz bass for Valentine's day in 1976.

She said she hated the sunburst finish on it and offered to carve it. I stripped the paint off and she did and we painted it white but never got around to painting the details carved into it.

A nude, a snake, a West Coast native design, a flower and a mushroom are all in there.

Don't you just love the "Fauxbuckers"? I'm certain they're single coil pickups with a pretend mini-humbucker-style cover. Sounds like a 1950s Fender single coil bass. I have an unmolested sunburst fretted one too.

You're right. I can't even describe my own bass after 44 years.

This wont be for everybody - but wow. The time involved for these must be incredibly long - wonder if anyone on here has purchased one of their previous models - very cool builds. IMO

Looks too clean and shiny to really seem "steampunk" though.

Looks dangerous. I can't imagine bringing it to a studio. Almost need a tetanus shot just by looking at the pics. And I'm not scared off by the usual stuff like Ric binding. It does show a lot of talent and imagination to create such a unique instrument. Well thought out and cool for what it is.
