My dictionary defines elegant as graceful in appearance or manner, tasteful, refined, ingeniously simple and pleasing, excellent. This bass qualifies, IMHO. Pics are courtesy of Bass Emporium. Top is rare crotch myrtle. Here's a bass that has it all...without trying too hard.

How in the WORLD do you decide which to play? You do realized how fortunate you are, right?

I realize it every day. Way past a charmed life gearwise. And I just worked out a couple of great deals on some more basses and sold a couple.

Choosing basses for gigs isn't easy. It probably doesn't help that I take anything I own on any gigs I do. That's why I got 'em.

This brings to mind something really cool about this forum... there are guys like me playing an Ibanez ATK and buying bits and pieces every paycheck to piece together our "dream basses" and other guys that have basses that cost more than the cars guys like me drive.

Music is our common denominator, it crosses all barriers, economic and otherwise.

Agreed. And trust me, I was where you are. I started playing in the mid 1970's and my first new bass was a Telecaster copy from a hardware store (I had/borrowed four or five lesser basses prior to that). What I have now is just a culmination of 30+ years of loving what I do.

Thanks. You should see the rest of them. Through some truly weird luck and dealmaking I now have 11 Brubakers... and I have two new ones in the works. I'm most likely going to sell at least three. Then I have a bunch of other stuff, from old Fenders to some cool 70's basses to the damn near weightless P bass knockoff to the old Tobiases and so. It would be very cool to have one room where I could have everything out... but I don't see us every having a house that big

Brad's Brubaker's=pure elegance......I REALLY need to take one of those for a test run someday.

Agreed thats a real stunner, and I love it, but in all fairness to the term "elegant", the graffiti-esque headstock logo sort of doesn't fit.

I personally love that large inlayed CallowHill logo. I also love the Giant Fodera Butterfly inlay and large block inlays and big bodied basses and single-cuts and extended range basses...etc........all of which have disapproval by some, but that disapproval does not make them less "elegant".
