We don't do obscure covers, as we don't see the point.
Material Issue - Valerie Loves Me
Flaming Lips - She Don't Use Jelly
The Cult - Wildflower
I love Samantha and Vintage Trouble. Both are well worth checking out live as well. Would definitely check out your band if I was in the area.
Almost every cover band in Baltimore does "Laid"!
Well I ain't never been to any bars in Baltimore
I don't think I've ever seen a band here in SJ do it.
We did it, too. I have a video, but the crowd noise is atrocious.
We play several non-canonical songs:
Fire on the moon - Bell Rays
Man in a box - Alice In Chains
Maybe I'm a Leo - Deep Purple
Sail away - Deep Purple
This is love – PJ Harvey
or at least I don't hear other cover bands playing them too often.
White Lies - Jason and the Scorchers
"You Just May Be The 1" Monkees , Joan Crawford B.O.C , "I've got your Number " Hughes /Thrall band , " The Low Road Home" Gamma, " Last Child" Aerosmith , Just Got Paid into "Wait until the Summers Gone" ZZ Top/Zebra , "Wouldn't want to be like you" Alan Parsons Project
We're a mostly originals band with a sprinkling of covers thrown in. Some not so obscure, some more obscure, all in our own plugged-in acoustic rock style and nothing like the original recordings.
Yeah, a cover band we ain't Which of course equals less work and money
A few of the more obscure ones:
Weightless Again - The Handsome Family
Juanita - The Flying Burrito Brothers
Henry - New Riders of the Purple Sage
Pop - The Shillaly Brothers
Child of the Moon - The Rolling Stones
"The Game of Love" - Wayne Fontana
man these are some obscure ones for sure. Most of these i have not even heard of!
I played a gig last Saturday where the set list included Robyn Hitchcock's "Balloon Man" and "Ole Tarantula", as well as Zappa's "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama". My regular band does Grant Green's "Flood In Franklin Park" from time to time.
i was in a project that did "air" from the broadway version of hair. ironically, since i had been singing it for quite a while, it was the perfect song when we did a three day show for the american lung association.
We used to do Smoke from a Distant Fire. Had a singer who just nailed it.
My jazz trio just started doing this tune:
This one's been in the set for a while:
What do I win?
"Far Cry" by Rush
My cover band often plays "In The Meantime" by Spacehog. Great song, few people ever recognize it but we love to play it!
"Holy Muscle of Love" by Alice Cooper.
Golden Earring - Twilight Zone
I love it. Most people we play it for heard of the song but don't know the name of the band.
