One way to be successful
@dwm74 my friend is to do it slowly. It took me two years to part with my lifetime of things I accumulated. Looking at it in one big pile and someone suggesting to me that I get rid of it was greeted with a 'that ain't gonna happen' response.
Instead, I chipped away at it here and there gradually. The mental peace and feelings of satisfaction far outweighed any perceived anxiety I created in my mind at the thought of letting go of something I might need some day. Here I am now though, almost back down to 100 things. Every piece of clothing I own can fit in one suitcase, shoes included.
It's as they say, no one looks back on their life in their dying moments and regrets things they didn't purchase. Or in the context of this conversation, regrets getting rid of things they thought they might need.
