Mudvyane bassist is badass

I think he's got an extreme smiley face on his EQ or something. I think he does all that slappin' and poppin' because he can't cut w/o it and he knows it. You can't hear him at all unless he's slappin or poppin... <p>
he is totally enslaved by the guitars but he's not happy about it. All that slappin is just a little back talk.

You are absoltely WRONG! I can hear almost every note on the album, especially the fretless work, which is excellent, his intonation is very good. He is not hiding behind anything. You obviously havent heard the album. Borrow it or buy it before you say stupid things like that. This is not my opinion, it is fact, the bass is mixed very prominently. Where's you work, I'd like to hear it?!

you two needa give the album another good listen, if you even have in the first place .. Ryknow is talented as, and very audible to boot! what are you talking about?? listen to "Severed"!!! he plays these awesome fingerstyle licks throughout the whole thing, and if anything, they're easier to hear than the guitar! i think some of you be a bit biased? like, if it's the "latest thing", then you gotta have a go at it. lighten up, yeah? :(

I'm sorry, I wasn't as clear as I had hoped to be. It's certainly OK to hate the band, but to say that the bassist is hiding behind the guitars and slaps to be heard is wrong, not my opinion. I think they are good, that is my opinion. The statments of CROZ are immature and show his lack of intelligence, and quite possibly, jealousy!?!? His "band", if he has one, doesn't get any attetion like Mudvayne, so he lashes out at them. You can certainly think they are bad, they suck, or the bass player sucks, but the bass is not buried in the mix: fact. He does not slap as an afterthought to be heard: fact. Sorry!

So its OK to insult other players on this board, but its not OK to support the same ones who are blasted here. I am so glad that you are a moderator here, I feel so much better about coming here(that is sarcasm , BTW). I merely asked the guy if he could post some link to some sounds of his. That, my "friend" is not insult. I do apoligize for the intelligence remark, CROZ is only ignorant of the bass player in Mudvayne, not stupid.

Obviously, you didnt read my posts correctly. These statements of yours are not accurate at all. First, my statements are not immature. I DID NOT say that CROZ had any shortcomings whatsoever...I merely would like to hear why he is qualified to judge another player. He is most likely a good player anyway. Secondly, I am not interested in a grudge match with anyone, that is obviously what you want to see. I am a good guy, I just don't enjoy watching people insult players when they obviously know nothing about the player they are blasting, that is ignorance. I already said I was sorry about the comment you quoted. You must be buddies with CROZ, or else you would have read my comments before spouting these falsehoods. I could care less if you are a moderator, that doesnt make what you think i said correct! I want to continue to come here, but these insulting comments about players are making me think otherwise. I used the wrong phrase to describe how I felt about CROZs' comments.

I've been bored lately and I could use something to keep my mind off my issuing divorce. I agree that I hear Mudvayne's bass fine in the mix and I really like them alot.

I think PhogChris was a little aggressive in his commnets.

But.....
John I really enjoy your comments and presence at this site but is it always turning into a macho "Mine is bigger and better than yours" type of competition. You are obviously very gifted and have the craziest collection of basses ever. I love ya man!!

Sorry If I insulted one of your favs. I listened to the Mudvayne album and I simply wasn't digging it. I like the distorted grindy tones...I don't like slap. I also like metal...all kinds, too. If you are the guy from primer 55 you can blow me away. We are on a totally different level. You are in BP magazine... I just jam with my friends.

LOL - a bass player's grudge match! well from profesional wrestlers to presidential canidates to unknown bassists, I suppose everyone needs something to whip out on the table, measure up and say "mine's better than yours." Sorry, maybe that was a little to vivid for sarcastic symbolism. anyway, hey guys these brawling discussions are not why I started this thread. Either you like him or ya don't. If your opinions clash by God that don't mean ya need to start gushing your hearts out with foolish unthoughout "yo mamma" type bashing, mmm-k? I like him, you like him, you don't like him. it's all good. i am tired.

Thank You, JT! Yeah, I was picked about a month ago from audition tapes. We are presently recording a new CD in NY. It is called "(the) NEW RELEASE" (had to plug it, sorry!). The first single will most likely be called "Texas", a funky little ditty about that great state! We are also confirmed for Tatto the Earth this summer/fall.
