Mudvyane bassist is badass

JT What I meant was that it seems that when their is a dissagreement about something I often hear things that are similiar too "Well lets hear what you can play" kind of thing. I'm sorry that I directed it at you, I hear people saying it else where on the site. And it seems to be alittle agressive.

If I had big boobs I would have a scruffy chin to go with it!!

hee hee! what a combination :D

the "lets hear your playing" thing was just in an answer to someone elses comment about "let's hear your playing". but you're right, it sounded like i was trying to play that kind of pissing contest, which is pretty uncool.

an interesting side-light. something we should all try to remember - there are MANY bass players that come to this site, including people who are friends with or who are related to, some famous individuals.

famous players tend to get slammed sometimes with a vengeance by people who don't like their stuff, without those people remembering that they are human beings as well as famous bass players, and that kind of meanness can be easily hurtful to those people who care for them.

i've been guilty of it in the past with regards to sam rivers, when a member on the board was actually related to him. it ended up hurting that member, and making me look a lot meaner than i would like to look.

so, pontification aside :D just think about that when you make comments about ANYBODY - stick to their playing and try to keep it phrased like an opinion as opposed to an insult.

i definitely don't want everybody to be all p.c. and all that crap, just remember that anybody who is famous has worked hard to be where they are, and they might have friends or familly who frequent this board.

I second what JT and phogchris said.

Yep JT you said what exactly what I meant accept in a much more eloquent way.

Any other famous or semi-famous people here?
JT is getting pretty close, he has quite the fan bass starting here along with the pseudo-mullet, and the craziest bass collection, Ive had people show me pictures of his collection from off the web that arent even musicians.

Ryknow....thread about Ryknow... Anywho, Ryknow is an incredible bassist in my eyes, and I listen to all types of music, Jazz, Techno, Metal, Blues, yada yada yada. Listening to him brought me back to liking bass when I was getting bored in my band. Fun to hear the bass more powerfull then the guitar on a cd. The entire band is pretty tight but Ryknow really shines. As for the whole make up thing, granted I love music for music, but if you dont have a good stage pressence, a show can become boring. Theatrics are fun! But anyways, now I'm rambling on about absolutly nothing. I think I'm going to shut up now, Buh bye!

"I've had people show me pictures of his collection from off the web that arent even musicians."

I have to admit that the 8 stringer pic did the rounds of my musician friends... resulting in comments like

- How, has that guy he had finger extenstions?

- If you ever buy one of those, you're out of the band.

- Is he of this Earth?

Anyway, back to the thread, I shall be buying LD50 (is that album title) on pay-day. I read the i/v in bass player, he sounds like he has an interseting style... can't wait to hear it. The theatrics of it looks pretty cool too. I like that... a cool show!

They're not like Death Grrrr Metal are they?.. Heavy, Hard, Rock etc.. is cool but Metal just doenst do it for me...

Trust me, Dig is not the song to listen to, i like Les Claypool, buy Ryknow is a much better all around bass player than Les. I stand by this statement. He is much better than Flea also. Les and Flea are very good, neither are half as well rounded as Ryknow from Mudvanyne, please do not judge him based on one song you heard!

Ryknow has the potential of becoming one of the best in the world. He still has a long life ahead of him. Dig is a good song to get you going. My least fav on the cd but I still like it more then most songs. I have to admit I got into the band because of what I heard him do off of Severed(Someone recomended it), But after a while I actually saw where the screams of Kud's vocals came into play(He does have a good singing voice when he does sing). The whole band is good. And they do have the potentional to put a big dent it the music scene. I only prey that they dont become overhyped like their friends, Slipknot.

I think Mudvayne will be even bigger than Slipknot with some time. Mudvayne is more versatile, and more skilled at what they do, not to mention, even if you don't like it, you can't say they aren't really good with their intruments (Slipknot, I love em to death, but musical skill speaking, they're nothing special). I figure they'll be the next big thing. It's gonna be huge. I'm warning y'all now.
