I love my Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2. Has all I need - compressor, tuner, SansAmp, Chorus, Fuzz, Octave and Envelope Filter. I also have the Zoom B1Four which started my journey. Nice little unit with some very good preset tones and effects at a great price.

Maybe I should ask via a PM but I'm sure others would benefit from your response: I have no use for the Fuzz, maybe the Octave, but I sure would like to coax something useful from the Envelope Filter. If you've stumbled across settings which truly shine, would you please post?

Here is a sample of the Envelope Filter. The Mix and Q are set to max and the Range (which acts as a frequency dial) is set at 2 o'clock. This is played with a pick. You can vary the effect by adjusting the mix and the range.

I use the Helix Floor model and can't speak highly enough about it. I have a patch made for each of my basses that include the same amps/effects. The only difference is the EQ is varied to match the individual basses. Makes switching instruments live and keeping good sound so much easier. That being said, you say you don't want amp/cab sims. Given that the Stomp and FX versions have basically the same tonal varieties as the Helix but in a simplified form I think they could serve you well. My guitar playing buddy uses the FX version as the core of his regular pedal board, and as a back up if he brings his Helix out. It's a nice unit.

Adding all of that multi-effects garbage will just ruin your sound. Are you sure you really want to go this route?

I think too many people push their effects too far...like all or nothing. Mine are all quite a subtle blend of tonal shaping. I doubt most would even know I was using a multi-effects pedal.

Yes. I keep the Comp dial set to 9 o'clock and the level at 10 o'clock. And I keep it always on. That works for me. The level I keep at unity gain, so it doesn't act as a boost. As for the Comp, I found that when I set it higher, I would get a swell in volume for sustained notes. Meaning as the note started to decay, the Comp would compensate and raise the level to keep it sustained.

Pretty much where I ended up....comp 9:30, level 9:00 but with the "Tone' cranked a bit to retain some high end response. I have the v1. Thx again!

I used the 60b for years. Great pedal. I recently got the 60b+ and I have to say it sounds better than the regular 60b IMHO. Not quite as many effects, but still plenty to go around. Sound quality a lot better on the preamps IMO. I am pretty impressed with it. And you can string along up to 60 effects in a chain on it (if the DSP lets you).

Agreed.
I had 60B and it didn't sound good enough for me to use live. But I tried 60B+ at my friends place recently and IMO it is much better.

OP: if you are focused on synth like me, C4 is (one of the) best FX at the moment. It can also do distortion, octave, decent chorus and phaser. No tuner, I use additional pedal next to it.

I'm so far behind, just got a Zoom B3. Even though its older tech the amp Sims are really surprisingly good.
Makes me want to get something that just does amp simulations.

I still use my B3. HX Stomp stays on my board but I keep my B3 on hand in my office for when the board isn't around. The drum machine that tempo syncs the looper is a great feature too.
