Music Man Custom Design Experience coming!

Oooh, so you want one of these, side from being white..:

I was lucky to find this locally (~1 hour drive in Canada is about as local as you can get) for I think $2200 CDN in 2022. Very cool bass and so versatile with the different pick up configurations. I'd assume a Big Al SSS would get pretty close though if that is what you have.
I have an SSS, and an H Big Al. Hardly ever whip out the SSS. The H RULES!!! This is why I'm in no rush to find a Reflex, that isn't EXACTLY (white) what I'm looking for. Even though I may not LOVE it, I'm guilty of putting stuff in the closet, and forgetting about it...

[edit, AGAIN]
P.S. This seems like a conversation that can be had via DM, as I dislike when threads get derailed. I feel kinda like a hypocrite at the moment.

Probably not, since they opened their online store to worldwide a year or so ago. It used to be US only before but not anymore.

even if it is open to the world, considering a stock Stingray is £2800/£3000 here, I can’t even imagine how much a custom one would be…. £3500/£4000? For that money, I’d rather get a German Sadowsky, or save a bit more and get a Lull.

What's certain is that no matter how many options they offer, someone will complain about what they don't.

The big one that people have been asking for for years and years is a wider string spacing on the 5 strings.

I remember Sterling Ball saying he'd make a 19mm string spacing Ray 5 if they got enough orders for it, but it was a very limited window and it was only in black. Of course it didn't get the steam to become reality and Sterling could go back to believing it wasn't worth the trouble.

I really wish they would have a pickup and preamp option.
I think it would be cool to have a 2 band HH model built with alnico pickups in a Special body.
Or a 2 band 5H with series, filter, parallel switch on a Special body.

G&L build to order and the fender mod shop isn't too much more than a production bass if I'm remembering correctly. I'd assume these will be around the same price as they aren't doing anything really that custom. Just bolting different necks to different bodies. That's the most aggravating part of fenders mod shop, just screw the jazz neck on the precision body without a custom shop charge. It's a shame G&L took that route as well now. Would've loved a LB100 with a 1 1/2 inch nut. Should've pulled the trigger earlier I suppose!

I believe that option is back with the BTO basses.

Don't know if you saw already but someone posted on recent thread it was a $200 upcharge for SLO Neck

No, I must have missed that particular post about the upcharge but that's about what I'd be expecting for this new custom/mod shop pricing. I imagine they will have a bass price for each model and then added fees for specific options like +$100 for HH, +$200 for SLO neck, probably +$x for block inlays, etc.
