Music Man Custom Design Experience coming!

That would be cool, but it wouldn't be a Stingray, which is a lot cooler.

A Stingray, custom or not, is not a £4000 instrument (that’s $5000 for you US peeps). I remember when I ordered a Sterling (US bass, not Sterling by Music Man) back in 2016 and paid £1400/$1780 for it -with slight discount- , now that was a realistic price. I beat myself up every day for having sold it.

I hear ya. Everything is insane these days. We're all being had. Buying power has dropped significantly.

Did you not see the post from EBMM site? It says you can choose regular neck profile or SLO Special profile. Rocket Music probably doesn't have the info about the new custom services as it won't be available until spring.
We were talking about another comment where I referenced g&l taking neck options off thier build to order options this year

EDIT: I see this was already clarified. But I'm unbelievably excited to have the SLO option available

Love that EBMM is bringing back fretless options, but I only see lined and unlined Pau Ferro options. I already found an unlined fretless Pau Ferro Bongo to play and I don't care for lined boards, so my bank account will probably be safe unless they offer unlined ebony or hard-coated maple option (like the BFR fretless). I'd also love to try Kiesel's hard as nails fretless finish, but the $400 upcharge is steep.

this is what i emailed them about recently because i hadn't heard the announcement about custom design experience. i LOVE that they're bringing fretless options back for non-BFR models (i hate glossed necks too much to buy one of those), but it is disappointing that it's only pau ferro and that they're not offering piezo. and there's the fact that, by virtue of having "custom" in the name, the price tag will probably be upwards of 3k. guess i'll just keep refreshing reverb every day until i find an unlined 5h piezo...

I guess I must be in the minority on TB: I really like the 17.5 spacing. My Yamaha is at 18, and I love that, too. It makes it way easier for me to do chordal work. I do wish the neck were just a touch wider so I wouldn't pull the G off the edge so much, but that's kinda tangential to the conversation.

I get along with their spacing too.

I am glad to see a finish teaser. I think it tempers my GAS.

This is cool and I hope they expand the options (if it makes sense costwise).

Options I'd love to see:
  • No-pickguard option
  • Hipshot D-tuner
  • Rear-routed controls option (automatic if no-pickguard on SR5s)
  • Add single-coil and P pickup options (as seen on the Joe Dart models)
  • Offer the Short-Scale Stingray with most, if not all the same options
  • Upcharge for more finishes (they could have different tiers of solids, translucents, metallics, flakes, bursts)
Randomly, I really wish they'd redesign the Short-Scale's headstock to be more like the Reflex / Game Changer - smaller, more compact, and with straight string pull. The splayed-out strings just bug me.

Also, wouldn't it be cool if you could get sculpted horns like on the SR5 on the regular 4-string? I think it'd look sleeker.
