I know bridges from that era go for about $400 on ebay (a buddy on here paid that for his).

With the hole drilled in the body for the jack, all of the holes from the bridge... I'd guess it's worth about what a late model one is used. I've seen more vintage-correct ones with body mods struggle to get above $1000.

The bass was for a funk band that never came together. Now it's getting use in a hard rock band .

MarkusBass came up with the swirl design and helped with the color choices and pickguard style. Mike Quick at quickguards.com made the guard. Marty Bell did the paint. I disassembled and rebuilt the bass. I had to redrill all the holes since they were full of paint, but it was worth it. I also put fretfx LEDs on the neck.

Are you looking at this one because of the age or just the color? The one big thing for me was the 2-band EQ as this one is a 3-band. Plus the loss of the mute bridge would be big thing for me. You could probably find the original parts on Ebay but you will pay a premium price.

I maybe back in Portland for good this summer. Cali isnt really my thing and I noticed that quickly.

It was more the color and style of the older bass I liked but I passed on it as the seller was super flakey and the 3 band isnt my favorite and as I have stated to other people I love the mute feature and bridge. I think the mute bridge just looks better and well I like the mutes.

Damn $400? sadly some basses are just to spendy to restore correctly as at the end of the day you paid more then a unmolested one would have been this is a lesson I learned the hard way.

may i introduce my beloved Stingray , bought it brand new in 1998 ....
i had other basses since, they're all gone ...
had a modified mex fretless fender jazz bass
warwick fretless thumb bass
5 string american jazz bass delux
american standard jazz bass
i even had a fretless musicman that looked exactly like the one you see in the pic ( which i kinda regret to have sold it)

anyway... this is the bass i feel at home with !!!!!

I'm thinking of getting a HS model, but these are hard to find.
i did find one in the classified, and they guy is nice enough to reserve it untill june when i can go try it ...

how would you define the most sound difference between HS and HH ?

problem with the HH, i found it really uncomfortable to play , especially slap ...

This guy knows what it's about! Had my natural ash body maple 4hh for just over 2 months now (2 months and 4 days).

Awesome! I have one of those too, called Autumn Burst Sparkle. However you took that pic really made the sparkles stand out!

Looks like your pick guard is sparkle too. Haven't seen that before. Mine came with tort, which I changed to clear.

Thanks for the info, I haven't had much luck figuring out what that finish was called. The pick guard is kind of a sparkly white pearloid. The matching headstock really sold me on it.

Go check out wdmusic. They have tons of pick guard options for Stingrays, I'm sure they'd have a clear one.

My first SR5 is a 1991 or 92 Trans Teal.
My second SR5 is a 2009 Ball Family Reserve with solid Rosewood neck.

Love em both but Blackie is my gigging bass.

Amen to that. Another Ball Family reserve with some amazing grain texture.
Really quite beautiful.
