I just got one last Friday. 
No pics, yet, I have been too busy playing it and doing some recording with it.

Looking at purchasing a 91' Stingray 5. Anything I should be aware of? Are these older stingrays better or worse than newer models?
My opinion, the older ones are WAY better. They put a lot of time and effort into picking the woods, they built them extremely well, and honestly I think they are the best ones that were ever put together. I have a 1989 and it is a fantastic piece of equipment.
Like any instrument, make sure that there are no major mechanical flaws or injuries that it has sustained. If it has a clean bill of health, I think you'll be extremely happy with this bass.

I have seen no evidence that Music Man has ever had a period of questionable quality, unlike Fender and Gibson. The old ones are good, and the new ones are good.
I have found that owning and playing a Musicman MAY turn you into a bass snob. I was at a friend's gig this weekend and all I could think was " wow, that bass he's playing is a POS"... I know, we don't judge.. I did, lol

From what I can tell it's had a refret. During the refret they decided to add abalone dots on the fretboard and do some sanding to make the wood lighter on the fretboard. Whoever did it did an excellent job, it looks factory.
Due to that and an electronics mess I got it for a song! I really like it. I think it looks pretty cool. It almost looks like a matching body/headstock type of thing since they are the original color.

Hi Mastaihei. Bit hard to see in your photos but from what you said you have Sterling By Music Man basses there. This club is for Ernie Ball Music Man Stingrays - I believe there's another club on Talkbass for the licensed copies that Praxis makes.
I love how stingrays sound, but I honestly think the PG looks out of place. would totally get one if it didn't have a pickguard on it or if it was replaced with something slightly more appealing. I know sound goes over quality, but still.
