Musical Beards

I'm very jealous of musicians with amazing facial hair. Yes, there are great female bassists and great female guitarists and singers and whatever. But Joan Jett could not grow a beard rivaling Dusty Hill. Janis Joplin couldn't match the members of System of a Down. And while I don't think my gender stands in the way of me becoming a decent musician, I do envy my bandmates that will one day be able to headbang and chin-bang.

What musician, regardless of genre, do you think sports the best facial fur?

I think Shavo Odadjian may have perfected it.

There's something special to be said about King's beard. It's scraggly and is long enough that some might consider it a wizard-type beard, but something about the neatness tells you don't f*ck with him.

And then there's James Hetfield. He's got a beard only crazy people have. He's six feet tall. He sings for one of the "big four" of thrash metal. His vocals and lyrics are recognized worldwide. He's a universal symbol for badassery everywhere.

And he lets a little jackass half a foot taller than him yell and curse him out because he puts a few rules in place to continue being a successful band.
