Musical Confessions

im a secret member at the following:
- robert-trujillo-sucks foundation
Would that be:
- Robert Trujillo, bassist for Suicidal Tendencies from 1989 to 1997?
or
- Robert Trujillo, bassist for Infectious Grooves from 1991 to 2000?
or
- Robert Trujillo, bassist for Ozzy Osbourne from 2001 to 2002?
or
- Robert Trujillo, bassist for Metallica from 2003 to present?

Personally, I love the first 2 Roberts, and can't stand to listen to the last 2.

Most jazz music is just obnoxious and usually sounds like a bunch of drunk kids and kittens making "music".

but there is jazz that is good aswell.

oh yeah indie is also the poorest excuse for music and its only just in front of "bands" that claim white noise is music.

I agree, he went from being pretty awesome to 'GRAGHGHG GENERIC METAL!!'

good point i have to say... i guess i need to clarify that.

- i heard infectious grooves and i liked it.
- never heard him with ozzy.
the other two went straigt to the trash can. (I kept mp3 backed up in my huge collection of music tho). I must add that i didnt like Suicidal Tendencies in the whole thing, not bass specifically. Of course, that's just me. I know is not a bad band, but then i confess i dont like em :-/

I apologize for spelling errors. I suck at writing english as i do in bass playing :smug:

:smug:
my sides are aching...

That's your opinion.

But on the Weezer thing, were you really paying attention when they first started gernering attention? This isn't a shot at you at all, and I whole heartly agree that opinions are that of every indavidual, but this is one of my favorite things to discuss. As such, I ask, do you chuckle because you know of 'Beverly Hills' (Make Believe, modern era) Weezer? Or have you ever really noted them and just find them unappealing? Because from my view, along with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World, Weezer's era of 'emo' (second incarnation, NOT nessicarily a derogitory term) found just the right blend of 60's era Pop sensability, with early 90's angst to become so widely popular. This (again, as I have seen it) has resulted in so many kids picking up instruments and copying the style, and those are the kids that are hitting it big now. For better or less, I think that most rock and roll pouring out of teenager's speakers is just as much a result of Weezer as Zepplin or the Beatles (but not nessicarily more so).

The Counting Crows thing though, I'll never be able to justify. Just the way I feel:rolleyes::p

-Counting Crows are a good band. I don't care if anyone thinks its cheesy. They wrote a LOT of great music. Really, just give it a listen.

-Weezer has done just as much for modern rock music as the Beatles.

-The Beastie Boys make at least two of the slots in the Top Five Hip Hop/Rap Albums Of All Time.

WORD.

I would add one more though - the Pixies contributed to SO much music, including Weezer, Nirvana, etc.

After 6 year s of careful, dedicated, steady practice procrastination, I still suck at bass, but people still like to hear me slap. I feel like dropping the instrument.

I think that Dream Theater and other (wheedly wheedly wheedly allthescalesknowntomaninonesong) bands are missing the point.

I think that some the really avant guard metal heads these days have more soul and ability than most of the jazz guys I hear today (and I work at the school of music)

I think that the guys who produce hip-hop and rap records these days have more talent than the rest of the industry

I'm terrified of music piracy. I have no idea how to get my music heard, because i'm not novel or an exceptional prodigy or anything.

I complain about not having gigs, but I don't look that hard for bands to play with.

Jeff Schmidt=musical genius, but I fall asleep to Outre.

Bass distortion is unnecessary and takes away from the music, but damn fun

I like songs or grooves better than 'bands' or 'groups'. Every band since the dawn of time has some stuff that isn't 'appealing' (PC with that description).

-Jerry Garcia is cool, but I don't get the Dead.
-I can see Springsteens genius, but I don't own any of his recordings and won't.
-I like loud rock music but I feel that a vast majority of 'metal' is distinctly un-listenable.
-I have great respect for EC, but he's overrated as a GP.
-As much as I hate to admit it, clearly most artists/creators/thinkers have their greatest output, both in scope and content, in their 20's.
-Thanks for the opportunity to release, but this thread is just a wanking paradise, and I apologize for participating.

All IMHO. Goodnight now...
