Musicman Stingray CLUB

This SR5 of mine bass is already in this club. I recently made some cosmetic changes to it. Its white body/headstock are turning a nice creamy colour which is difficult to capture without professional lighting, but you get the idea.

Used to have this for 8 years. Traded it for a Fender Jazz. Still loving the Jazz but got to have a Stingray so....

....I got this. Love the 2nd humbucker, can have the traditional Stingray sound and give it a little more booty with the neck pick up when desired. Still haven't removed the pick guard plastic covering.

I don't have you on the club list (?). We haven't heard from Otso in quite a while, so I took over around #73-74ish and very well might've missed you. I do apologize though! Had lots of posts to go through to figure out who was where. That white headstock looks great... wish mine had that too, but I'll take the gold hardware instead. :D

#105 to you so you're "official!" :bassist:

#106 to BassScum, welcome back to having a Stingray... the HH setup is great, isn't it? :)

As always, the most up to date list I've got is linked in my sig!

Help, I need some advice. I have been offered to buy a very early ´76 stingray. The sunburst finish have been stripped of so it is natural finish. That happened a long time ago according to the seller. The bass have recently been refretted and the neck and head have been waxed. It sells for $1700 which is a lot cheaper than what a new stingray costs where I live, and I live i Europe.
So is this a good price for a ´76 Stingray?

1700 is a good price for a 76 stingray, provided the instrument is in good condition.. SOmeone else may know better than me though...

I snagged the original seafoam green Classic Deluxe Stingray that was used to showcase the new retro line. It was sold to the original owner during the Bass Player Live EBMM/Guitar Center shindig last Oct 24 09

These are the factory photos taken of this bass which were used to announce the Classic Deluxe line.

And these are the photos used to announce the premium finished and figured necks. This is the actual neck on the bass.

Somewhere along the line EBMM changed the shade to mint green and so this thing, aside from having some interesting provenance, is actually a one of a kind piece.:bassist:

What is the violently jealous emoticon?
Oh well this will do.

Bass, you're pretty new to Talkbass, so I'll pass along a couple tips:
1) There's an unwritten rule around Talkbass... no pics, no proof! ;) Even if it's a crappy cell phone pic, that's better than no pic! There's quite a few photo hosting sites out there, I use Photobucket.com. Great easy way to share pics with us skeptics! :ninja: :D

2) Talkbass is horrible for a thing called G.A.S. "Gear Acquisition Syndrome." Just surfing around TB will make your wallet weep because you'll see all sorts of super cool stuff you didn't know about. Because of TB, I've jumped into the world of single effects in a huge (and expensive :bawl: lol) way, completely overhauled my amp setup and bought a custom 6-string. :rollno: lol Good luck to you! hehehe

so, my ray doesn't have "thru-body" stringing
how long has this been going on?

Unless you've been living under a rock there have been countless threads on the new Musicman Classic series basses. They're made similar to the preEB styling: no arm or belly contours, only have 2 band eq, string through body bridge with mute pads, and glossy neck with vintage sized frets.

So i guess I've been "under a rock" since i didn't know about the new line or "countless threads." I guess I should apologize for not spending all of my free time in a music store or searching new product threads. I asked a simple question. Though you answered it, I feel your attempt to insult me could have been done without.

Thanks anyway i guess
