MXR bass innovations

I asked this in its own thread, but didn't get any answers. Maybe here would be the better spot to post. Has anyone heard anything about the MXR la machine? It's a guitar pedal, but I was wondering how it would sound on bass. Could be a pretty cool effect.

La Machine is an octave up fuzz similar in nature to the Foxx Tone Machine. It would be usable on bass but there would be some low end loss, for sure.

i'll try a 5 string on the pedal next time im in sam ash. when the knobs are all the way full, the sound isn't too wacky. i think the chorus feature should get a bit more wacky, but the flanger is more usable. i could see myself using the flanger feature more.

Cool...thanks for checking it out. I really don't care if the chorus should sound more wacky or not. all I care about is how smooth and lushful it can sound and based on sound samples I've heard, this pedal seems to deliver. I also dig how the flanger effect sounded on that pedal. I am thinking about purchasing this pedal.

yeah but, to me, their isn't much sounds you can do in the chorus mode. it's quite minimal in options, to me. that isn't a bad thing. the x-over is cool. i thought i would only play with it on but play with the x-over off has it purpose.

at the shop, i was playing a gibson midtown with the pedal. next time i hope to bring my gretsch g5123b to see if i'd like the effect more. because of the acoustics in the shop, the amp volume was low yet loud. i feel if the amp was at higher volumes you could hear more of the effect from the pedal. at times in the shop, the chorus sounded highly similar to the flanger. they are similar effects, but when i'd plucked the strings had the flanger was more present.

overal, i'm going to buy this pedal one day. i think it's size is what is holding this pedal back, but people do buy pedals because of quality and size. the chorus has one sound and doesn't get to crazy. i could see someone picking it up and right away say that it not what they're looking for. the flanger is great, that's all i will say. the chorusing and flanging sounds better in the videos. the x-over makes the chorus a different weapon, that's all i will say about that.

just going to add that sam ash employees and worst than guitar centers.

Honestly, it's okay if the mxr bass chorus doesn't go crazy. the only thing I look for in a chorus is if it has plenty of lush for bass. I usually go for a smooth and lushful sound and I don't go overboard on modulation effects. I did noticed that many people here say that the mxr bass chorus is considered to be subtle sounding, but based on clips I've looked up on youtube, I think it has plenty of lush. I mean it may not be as super lushful as the ebs unichorus or the tech 21 bass boost chorus, but I do like what I here from the pedal.

One other thing, is it true that sam ash employees are worst than guitar center employees? cause I've been to sam ash a couple of times and I thought they were okay people. guitar center employees I can understand because they were owned by barnes and noble(and they're a bookstore by the way) and they hire people from their store to guitar center. they probably don't know anything about musical gear.
