My Apologies To All Here

I can understand the OP's frustrations at not getting the bass on time and not getting accurate info from Fender.
That being said, let me give you an example of what it is like for FedEx and UPS this time of year. I am a courier for FedEx Express. My normal route starts at 11:00 am and I usually do around 40 deliveries and then do pickups until about 7:00 pm. Lately I have been starting at 8:30 because of the increase in volume. Depending on how long it takes to get the trucks loaded and get out on road I usually start my deliveries around 9:15. Today I had 120 deliveries, plus my normal pickups.
The other delivery route in my area had over 200! The volume for our station was 6000 pieces higher than it was this day last year.
When the volume of freight being shipped is this high are bound to be issues. We have been fortunate that the weather has been good this year. Imagine how it would be if there was a lot snow or ice to slow things down even more!

Thank you for your service! I salute you!

I'm sorry I missed all the excitement. The only bass I ever ordered without playing it first was a quilted maple American Spector NS2. I already had a red one and loved it. It was an early Kramer and had a very thick neck. The one I received had a very thin neck and felt completely different. Build quality was fine but I just didn't like it. If I hadn't stopped in at another store on the way home and traded it even for a mint 1956 P-bass, I probably would have taken it back. I can't see ever ordering any guitar sight unseen ever again.

This is all I have to say on the issue at hand.
