my band played a show without me?!?!

Yeah, i think taking the advice of those who said "be classy" is the way to go. I think the thing here is not that they might not want you in the band, but the way they went about it. You might feel enraged now, but that will pass. One door shuts, another one opens. Chalk it up to experience.

I also agree with those who said to get your stuff.

FYI. I don't think it was just the gig. They probably rehearsed with your replacement as well to make sure he got all the songs down.

+1 on moving your stuff out. IMO, there is no "legit" reason to do a gig w/o you.

This happened in a band I was in except with a singer. Our guitar player had a friend that was a decent singer and wanted us to start playing with him. The rest of the band decided it would be fine without even talking to our current singer. I was outvoted and left soon thereafter.

nice, sounds like a great bunch of guys you used to play with! I guess you can cross a few names of the old Christmas card list!

It would be really funny, if you found a new band quickly, then show up at the practice space early, set up with them, and be playing when the rest of your "old" band showed up... put the boot on the other foot... of course that kind of thing only happens on television!

thats waaay too much disrespect. i wouldent go back. you have a right to be annoyed. sounds like they are fishing for someone else anyhow. even better, wait till they call you for a gig and say you cant because your in another project.. one good turn deserves another. johnny a. staind

I'd politely get my stuff and go. Tempting as it is to make a statement, it's far better to take the high road and be the bigger/better person. You just never know what the future holds and when paths will cross again.

With all due respect the folks here talking about burning bridges I have to respectfully disagree. I would invite the current band-leader for a one to one meeting, have a good heart felt talk with him, shake his hand then without warning give him a vicious nut shot. Whether or not I kicked the living crap out him when he hit the floor would only depend on how hard I was laughing at him writhing around in pain.

Ummm...I hope you don't expect to ever play that bass again!

I got kicked out of a band once like that. They had been booking occasional "acoustic duo" coffee house gigs, with just the guitar players. I showed up at what I thought was one of those, just to watch, be supportive, etc. The BL came over to me when he arrived & told me that they had been working with another bass player (which would have become evident shortly, if he hadn't bothered). I just said something like, "So I guess I'm out?", to which he just shrugged.

I bump into them occasionally. I'm OK with the rest of the band, & I can still be cordial with BL. Although, he had the opportunity to ask me to sub for them a couple of months ago & chose to cancel a gig instead! I let the "community" know that I'd sub for them, but only at full AFM scale rate including rehearsals.

One word. NO. They booked a gig with another guy and didn't tell you. You're thinking like a stalker here. No problem asking them what the deal is. But having a hard time imagining any reason to go back with them after they've done something like that. You can sub, but get the money up front.

People shouldn't need to show you they're dishonest more than once.

I would definitely make sure you have ALL of your S#!t outta there in-case they are real turds about it and claim your crap as theirs or it may already be gone.:ninja:
