I wish I had enough of a fun money fund that I could have bought it outright, but waiting a few months, while paying it off is good discipline. I know I would never whip out plastic for luxury like a bass!

That's true because when I first heard about the bass, I knew what they had in it, and I let them know that if they wanted a sure, but modest profit, I would take it.
How much time you got?
That's how many reasons I could think of. All of which could lead to pawning an item.
1. Lost job.
2. Could no longer play due to a debilitating illness.
3. No longer wanted it.
Arguably the finest fretless bass out there! Congratulations!
Meant as opposed to selling for closer to market value, but tough times require tough measures as they say...
4. Didn't need two.
5. Only bought it to piss off his brother-in-law, who then died in a bizarre bicycle accident
6. Liked water sports more.

Some options seem better until time is factored into the equation. There's also the effort that goes into selling an item. I've listed stuff on Craigslist and multiple people will ask if something is still available. And that's the last time I'll hear from them. Why ask if you're not going to follow through?
