My drummer is pissing me off

He thinks he's right and the official lyrics are wrong?

The dude's crazy.

We listened to the damn thing 5 times. He says the little guitar lick covers up the word "From".

I even played a live version of the song, which clearly proves my point.

I know it sounds like I hate the guy or something, but that's not true. I like him, and his wife is a really sweet person. He has some issues though. Most of it I can deal with as long as he is able to do his job.

He's kind of like another guy I know who has read a bunch of biographies of rock stars and walks around, living his life as if someone is following him with a video camera and writing a biography of him. The dude is 26 and he's still all "Stick it to the man" and all that. He actually got into an argument with my wife because he believes that "Bomb" is just a word and that he should have every right to say it in a courtroom or a classroom or on an airplane. He signed my daughter's high school graduation card something to the effect of " Congrats on being able to listen to their BS for so long".

A doctor told him his kid was asthmatic, but he's so smart that he knows the doctor is wrong and the kid just has allergies, like he does. My wife and I are getting a little concerned because it seems like the poor kid isn't getting enough oxygen to his brain. Does anyone here know what it means if an infant has blue ( and I mean obviously blue) veins bulging out of the outside corners of his eyes? Should I be concerned?

He's pretty ****ing amazing. Best drummer I've come across(without it being some drummer on a youtube video). Our band plays technical/grind type of stuff so not any drummer is suitable. His talent is enough to make up for his unreliability/social retardedness..for now.

One song from our band.

How good is a drummer when he turns out to be socially unreliable, to cancel lots of rearsals, and to do so without warning any of the bandmates? I'd look for a drummer who's less of a virtuoso but more of a stable musician and bandmate.

We practice at my house, where my wife lives. I thought that was obvious from the opening post.

The women do not interfere with us, my point was that my wife is obliged to entertain, unless she wants to just leave the poor girl sitting by herself in the living room for 4 hours.

Gotcha - my mistake...I get it now

Crappy situation then bro. I'd find another drummer though...talent doesn't outweigh being a douchebag

I agree. He isn't all that talented at any rate.

I think after last practice, maybe a sit-down is in order. We practice tomorrow night and I think maybe I will express all my concerns and let him decide whether or not he wants to stay in this band. I do like the little punk, but so far we have had little drama in this band and I aim to keep it that way.

Ain't that what TV's for?

Between The Bachelor, Oprah, Dr. Phil, Desperate Housewives, Bridezilla, The Food Network, The Lifetime Network, TLC, the shopping channels, and all those wedding dress shows, cake decorating shows, and reality shows there's got to be SOMETHING on that she can be glued to.

What's wrong with, "I'd love to stay and chat but I have to study. Here's a some snacks, a drink, and the TV remote. Let me know if you need anything else. See you later!"

My wife is working on her Master's degree and she puts studying ahead of EVERYTHING else. It doesn't matter who you are, when it's study time; it's study time. Whoever you are, you're just going to have to wait. Everybody understands. It's never been a problem.

someone should sticky this and change the title to band rant.

Since I'm here and this seems like the place for this I'll add my little rant here.

I'm forming a band (trying to at least). My fiance' wants to join which is great because she can sing and she's been playing guitar for 15 years give or take (yes I'm marrying a cougar). Anyway she doesn't want to reherse, doesn't want to practice, doesn't want to help me pick out a set-list, doesn't want to start looking for a drummer... but she wants to be in the band. Now I'm in a tricky situation because if I find a guitarist who's dedicated as well as a drummer and pretty much replace her in the band then I still have to live with her...

and for the recor vicodin sucks. It takes at least 4 to get someone 200lbs or more buzzed. I actually snorted 6 of them and felt perfectly fine. Like I'd only taken asprin. I'd also like to mention that wa several years ago...

idk about that, IME asprin will eat a hole in your stomache... it also thins your blood.
Well, technically, it doesn't thin your blood. Asprin makes your blood cells more slippery so if you have a bleed, it can make the bleeding continue a little longer than normal. The action of asprin making your blood flow a little more smoothly is actually a good thing; it's the reason that doctors recommend asprin to heart patients. If your blood flows more easily, it means your heart doesn't have to work as hard to pump it so your heart can rest a little bit--which means it can also lower your blood pressure. Generally, asprin is considered beneficial but some people are allergic to it and some people's stomachs are sensitive to it. I'm not either. I love asprin--but it has NO EFFECT at all on my wife. She gets NO pain relief from it at all so YMMV.

Reading threads like this makes me so thankful for the guys in my band! When we practice, we make a day out of it. We spend some time practicing, then we take a break and just hang out for a bit before jumping back to it. We also all three hang out a lot outside of practice, too. I guess being good friends with your bandmates kind of eliminates a lot of the problems some people have. That and the fact that nobody has a "high and mighty" attitude. We all insist that we are the least talented person in the band.

Vicodin 750's will pound your liver into submission. It's the acetaminophen. Avoid the stuff in any product. YMMV. IME., etc.

Both of these can be dangerous in large amounts, like most medicines.

I forgot a couple years back that excedrin is not to be used if you have alcohol in your system. Took 5 to take the edge off a hangover. Wound up puking blood. And I don't mean "vomit with some blood in it," I mean that what I was barfing up was almost entirely blood. It was a scary experience.
