My drummer is pissing me off

Ain't that what TV's for?

Between The Bachelor, Oprah, Dr. Phil, Desperate Housewives, Bridezilla, The Food Network, The Lifetime Network, TLC, the shopping channels, and all those wedding dress shows, cake decorating shows, and reality shows there's got to be SOMETHING on that she can be glued to.

What's wrong with, "I'd love to stay and chat but I have to study. Here's a some snacks, a drink, and the TV remote. Let me know if you need anything else. See you later!"

My wife is working on her Master's degree and she puts studying ahead of EVERYTHING else. It doesn't matter who you are, when it's study time; it's study time. Whoever you are, you're just going to have to wait. Everybody understands. It's never been a problem.

Not everybody likes a lot of the stuff that's on TV, lots of people hate all those things you mentioned.

I'd advise just having her bring a book or something. Time flies fast with a good novel.

Tonight instead of band practice, my wife has planned a surprise birthday party for my drummer's wife. She spent most of the day yesterday making food and a cake and getting decorations ready and all that. She also got her a movie she has been wanting and is planning on taking her clothes shopping this weekend. My wife is extremely sweet. So is my drummer's wife.

So, it's not all drama. ;)

Dude, try reading the whole thread before commenting. I have addressed this comment already.

As for my drummer, last night he had a whole new attitude at practice. We spent 4 hours working on 3 new songs and by the end of the night we had them down really well. Also he left his wife and kid at home for the first time.

I did read it before commenting.

It's still ridiculous that somebody would be upset because somebody else got a job, even if it is low paying.

I've played drums for over 30 years. Got conned into switching about 6 years ago when my son was born. Still have a kit, still practice, but how can I resist Rex (my '88 SR5)? So now I'm a bassist. Anyhow, like almost all drummers, ours rushes the tempo & plays too loud. But we live in a small town & take what we can get. One thing I do like about him (& the rest of the band for that matter) is that when we are in rehearsal it's bam, bam, bam, one song after another with little or no chatting, bitching, noodling or what-have-you. He's down with the all-business vibe of our practices, so while he's not the Jim Keltner I wish he was (and I'm not the hesher bassist he wishes I was) I do appreciate his professionalism. Fair trade?

Bro, listen to what you wrote.
Drummer can't play, can sing, is high, brings his family to practice.
Why are you still playing with him.
If you serious, about your music, find a new drummer, or a new band.
Life is short.

someone should sticky this and change the title to band rant.

Since I'm here and this seems like the place for this I'll add my little rant here.

I'm forming a band (trying to at least). My fiance' wants to join which is great because she can sing and she's been playing guitar for 15 years give or take (yes I'm marrying a cougar). Anyway she doesn't want to reherse, doesn't want to practice, doesn't want to help me pick out a set-list, doesn't want to start looking for a drummer... but she wants to be in the band. Now I'm in a tricky situation because if I find a guitarist who's dedicated as well as a drummer and pretty much replace her in the band then I still have to live with her...

and for the recor vicodin sucks. It takes at least 4 to get someone 200lbs or more buzzed. I actually snorted 6 of them and felt perfectly fine. Like I'd only taken asprin. I'd also like to mention that wa several years ago...

I think I found your problem.
