Today we had a great service. I used my DJ5 plus my U-bass for one old timey song. I could honestly just use those two basses for everything. The funny thing is that I own seven or eight basses now, the most I have ever had. I really like all of them, but my DJ5 and U-bass are my two essential basses. My Forums are great backup basses, and would be my number ones if I did not have my Lakland.

I am happy with a large collection, but it is nice to understand what really means the most to me.

Hey Doc, great to see a video of you playing. The U-bass sounds great, looks pretty. Also looks TINY in your hands.
Playing music flat out beats GASing about instruments.
Keep groovin.

The biggest difference for me in addition to really indentifying the basses that work for me, I have been taking lessons since May, and I hope to take them at least until next May. It has eye opening to have a great player break down what do and show me where I need to improve.

If I had to, I think I could do it with my '73 P and my Adam Clayton Jazz.

Great video Doc, that U-bass is cooking. I know what you mean about certain basses. I'm around five with one more being built by Sadowsky. One of my other basses is from that original Brooklyn shop so there's some pricey basses in the stable. Last year I ordered a G&L LB100 with the Jazz neck and recently threw on a set of LaBella Deep Talking Flats. I think I could be happy just playing that bass forever. Maybe it's the flats, maybe the bass? It just has a feel and sound that I really dig. The bass just amazes me.
Also, cool going back for lessons. I've done that also, it motivates and challenges me. Plus, as they say, you might learn something you didn't know.
