My experience with bassstringsonline.com part 2!

My experience with them was quite poor. My order was not acknowledged and required a follow up phone call. The person on the phone couldn't have cared less. It took more than a week to finally recieve my strings. I did not get any kind of VIP treatment or any discount as was promised. They won't getting any more business from me. Very disappointing experience.

Please message me your order number or at least your name / email address.

The discount applies to MOST items. It does not show in the discount field... It affects the price all together.

You must let us know you are from the forum for any extra discount.

Like I said though... Message me your info so I can look into this...

I see you recently put on a set of yellow and orange neon strings... I found your order.

You placed your order July 1st, in the morning. It shipped the next business day. It was delivered Friday the 5th 3000 miles away.

Please explain where the problem is? Also who did you speak with and what was your question?

Could you be the person who called and spoke with Jamie about the strings being longer than your "original" strings? You called back saying you spoke with the manufacture and they explained about them needing to be cut. I was not in the office that day but was told you called back saying you found a solution so no return call was necessary.

Also yes you are correct. The VIP pricing for some reason was not properly applied to your order so I will address it. However you were able to select the VIP shipping option which tells us that you are setup as a VIP.

Jason,

Is there any difference in construction between the D'Addario wound XL ProSteels guitar strings and the ProSteels round wound bass strings?

Are you wanting to use the .020w string on your bass? It works, but depends on the instrument. It is not very long so the tuning post needs to be close to the nut.

But really with any gauge pro-steel, it is just a difference of core to wrap ratio's... On the guitar strings, they have the small ball end and shorter length.

The product appears to be functioning properly, not sure why the discount was not applied in the cart for you but I adjusted your order and have issued a credit to your credit card. It will show up in a few days.

If it was Jamie who you spoke with on the phone, he called me (I was out) and he explained the situation. Jamie mainly handles the Drum site specifically but handles the phone if I am out of the office. I have now advised him on basic installation tips, like having to cut strings. I have a reference guide for string lengths which he recommends people to read, and I will add an installation guide on the site as well.

Looking at your NEON pictures in the other thread, it makes me think it was you that called as it appears you did not cut your E string before you installed it.

I would like to hear from you as to why you feel my company was not 100% for you.

You ordered the product, we shipped it the next day, and you got it by the end of the same week.

I received no emails from you regarding any pricing discrepancies or any unhappiness until this public post. The phone call that I think was you I was informed "the person" spoke with the manufacturer and figured out the issue so did not require a call back.

Hey Jason. I'm setting up my friends Jazz bass tonight and installing some new strings for him. He prefers a more taut string with fairly high action. He has two sets from which to choose, Ernie Ball Slinky 45-105 nickel rounds or D'Addario 45-105 nickel rounds. Which set would you say is more likely to give him the tension he desires? I'm hoping to let the strings do the work in pulling the neck into a higher relief before I try adjusting the truss. Thanks.

Of all the 45-105 strings those are probably the most flexible standard rounds!

I would go with the D'Addario's, although I don't really think they are going to be super taut, although some feel they are!

Next time I would suggest a heavier gauge set, 50-105 / 50-110

Thanks. I figured D'Addario would be the more tense of the two based on personal experience but its been a long time since I used EB's.

 Why yes! That's exactly why I am asking.

What is the speaking length on the .020w?

Good points.

By the way, I have really appreciated your excellent customer service and prices. It's nice to know that you also sell guitar strings.

I have a few customers who do it. TOTAL length is about 40-41" I will need to measure one on Monday but it should be about 40"... Most bass strings are 48" for the full winding.

You must have a 3+3 3+4 headstock where the tuning post is very close to the nut.

Most peoples instruments the strings are too short.

In this post I did this with a Chrome Flatwound Guitar String:

Love this site. Circle K recently converted me to balanced tension strings, but I also wanted to try flats, so I grabbed a custom set of D'addario Chromes a couple months back.

The shipping very, very fast. Had to place another order a little over a week ago because I broke the low B at band rehearsal (my vocalist: "You broke a telephone wire?!"), and I had the new set a couple of days later. Wish I had known about the Talkbass discount :P but it's no big deal.

Message me your order info and I can apply it to what I can.

Well, I just placed my first order based on all the great comments - 2 sets of strings for my Sadowsky and a new cable. Hoping it gets here by Thursday - I'm about to put my last set on my bass, and I hate going to gigs without a (new) backup set.

With all the extra goodies on the site (instead of BassStringsOnline, why not BassStuffOnline;)), this might be a very expensive discovery.
