My f'ing kid

So I'm new to playing bass (and the forums), been going hard for 2 hrs a day for the past 2 months. I'm really digging deep and dedicating my self to playing.

So I'm knee deep in Queen, we are the champions, suddenly my kid starts snickering cause I missed a string of notes. F'ing little brat.

But I smoked a cigarette, turned up the volume and power through.

Just wanted to vent that and see if there are others out there who have a snickering audience.

Brats.....

Many years ago I took up drums as I was bored and wanted to try something new. The neighbors had never complained about my bass playing or when band practice took place at my house.

Anyway....I had the headphones on and was trying to drum to something waaaaay above my skill level. Who cares it was fun, and I thought I was tearing it up.

Later that day I'm shooting the breeze with my neighbor over the fence, and he says, "Bought your son drums, huh? Man, I heard him practicing and you are a better man than me, I couldn't stand that horrible racket. "

I never did set the record straight...............score one for the dad's. ;)

Heckuva nice way to refer to your kid, gotta say.
Got to agree here.
You are not paving the way for a good father/son relationship there,
why not get the young fella involved too.
Get him to show you a few licks on the bass or get him a guitar.

I'm sure the snickering is a call for some attention, and wanting be a part of your interest too maybe? (or am I wrong?)

Didn't expect this kinda response. I was more venting over the fact that I caught snickers from the kiddo.

I did offer her the chance to play, often do. But you can't force some things on kids. She makes me feel old and she'll never skip an opportunity to remind me of my age.

All that aside. I don't treat her wrong and call her a brat to her face, but on a forum I'm speaking my mind. Love her to bits but I'm trying to learn something new and trying to lead by example, and when our kids fail at trying to learn we as parents can't snicker at them, and it sucks when they're brats and snicker at our short comings.

This is why God invented headphones. People can't snicker at what they can't hear. ;)
