Here's my answer: I don't give a fling about what things are called or what name is written on them. I especially don't care what other people think about what they're called or not called.
I'll tell you this though: Steinway says that rebuilt Steinways NOT rebuilt by Steinway and its craftsmen who know the "recipe" are no longer truly Steinways. In spite of this my answer stays the same, I either personally like it or I don't. It's either being used in a musically useful way or it isn't and ALL time spent trying to tease out the small differences about what makes a fender a fender or a steinway a steinway is simply wasted time.
