I've been long wanting to mod a black Jack Casady by blacking it out, swap the pickup, scratchplate, selector plate and knobs of the White Casady (cause they're black, of course) to the black one, and then black out the rest of the hardware. Then rip out the frets, drill out the fret markers and lay in some black mother-of-pearl into the fretlines/markers, and replace the body binding with black MOP, too. Drill out the Epiphone script in the headstock and the truss rod cover to also have black MOP.

Well, ok, but your ideas are taking it places I just can't go yet (inlay work). :) The black/white swap possibility has been brought up, but buying a white one just to swap and sell it as the only "white and cream" does seem a bit excessive to me. But what is this all about if not excess?

Thanks, I just didn't like the idea of adding too many new (visible) knobs and switches. I think I'll end up with a 3 way selector on the upper bout, have to find places for one more, and the coil taps (might put minis for those right in the pg just south the pickups, though)

And at least one fretless does exist, I saw Jack playing one! Looked like trans red over the gold to me, the way it flickered in the light.

I am truly nuts. Scored a used gold Jack last night, for $314 used because of a tiny crack in the neck joint (I think some black stewmac expoxy should take care of the crack). Seriously thinking of getting a white one, for the parts swap, and making it a white, cream and gold "White Falcon" color scheme fretless.

Already dealing with too many controls, but if I can figure out where to put one so that it's both usable and visually not too horrifying, sure! But there are so many phase combinations possible, again, too many switches. Maybe just one. :)

Nope, 13052* on the crackerjack. My original uncracked goldtop starts with R98P* though, but the black one and the new one are both 13*, they must have renumbered at some point.

Time to get my butt in gear on this, all of the main parts are here now, the Novak BS/DS sets arrived today. Time to start "readin' up" to cuttin' some holes! :eek::nailbiting:

And actually, it doesn't look like the routes need to be quite as large as I thought - on the other target bass, the faux antique violin, they fit in the existing holes (which I was expecting to have to enlarge) with room to spare. I'm going to need to carve some wood pickup risers / space fillers, since both tops have a bit of curve to them. I bought some pickup ring sets for them, but I need to fill more space than just that.
