Well, that’s what they did, it wasn’t that successful. They did one album, covered the Beach Boys’ “Do It Again”(the video featured a very confused Brian Wilson), and then packed it in. AP’s solo stuff was pretty good, quirky, sarcastic, and he contributed to Concrete Blond’s “Tomorrow Wendy”. If it’s any consolation, another band I was in shared a rehearsal space with Stan Ridgeway. The drummer in that band used to roadie for WoV, and went on to play with him directly. Consider that a Phil-less Thin Lizzy has toured.

Shuggie Otis...awesome. A lot of people don't know he was "Strawberry Letter 23" until the Bros Johnson took it to Funkytown..... it was still FONKY though....and beautifully psychedelic. Shuggie..... now SOMEBODY tell me about Pokey La Farge, a name only a mother could love.

This EP was my introduction to the band,
which included a creepy version of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire” that was a hit on college radio…

Then, come to think of it, the Experience without Hendrix? Wasn’t that what all the Experience Hendrix tours were all about?

I loved the 80’s punk shows in the city. Saw Flipper and DK’s. MDC were great. Black Flag came through a bunch. The Farm down on Army street was another favorite venue but the Mabuhay ruled. That and Gilman Street. Maybe I saw one of your shows…

I was a room service waiter, I had a tray with her burger on it with a cover, another cover upsidedown with a piece of pie with melted cheese on top in that, and a salad plate on top of that. I set up her table for her, she sat down, and I whipped the salad plate off to put infront of her. Unfortunately, I had miscalculated, and the cheese stuckto the bottom of the salad plate, and ripped the top of the pie off, which drug through her hair when I was putting the plate down...... pretty much the end of my service career!

opening for James Blood Ulmer. I've long since forgotten the name of the venue. It was in Porter Square. Or maybe Davis Square? Jamaaladeen Tacuma was playing bass. (A headless Steinberger!) We chatted for a few moments about when he was playing with the Golden Palominos.

Good guess, but they'd never have hired a bar band like the one I was playing with. Sorry to read it closed in 2013. Thanks to your post, I did some more looking, and found it: When we played there it was called the Davis Square Theater. Now known as "The Rockwell." I also tried to remember how the hell we got the gig in the first place. Pretty sure the drummer, who was a Berklee grad with some connections, got it. Funny: I can't remember his name, but he always had a pint of apricot schnapps under his drum throne. Stuff stank!

I always think the "has shared the stage with" fluff is the most cringe thing that bands put in their bios. That being said... Quiet Riot, Molly Hatchet, Eddie Money, Firehouse, Warrant, Head East, Marshall Tucker Band

maybe so --- most of the time it was us 'just doing our job'. once i realized that the truly 'great ones' were just like the rest of us = most of the 'star shine' gave way to actual relationships with a few of them.

I lived in Davis Square 1996-97 and left Boston in 2000, don't remember the Davis Sq Theater, but I saw some heavy hitters (John Zorn's Masada, Jonas Hellborg/Shawn Lane/Jeff Sipe) at the Somerville Theatre around the corner!

Doubtful. Static 3. The Sound of Music was a rathole, and we drew no crowds.

The DKs show only had about 15 people, bands included. IIRC, someone got stabbed in the parking lot next door. Just the bands for Romeo Void.

You're more likely to have run into me at Johnny Nitro's jam sessions a few years later.
