NBD: Beautiful P Bass

I’ve had a bit of a “dream P” in my head for awhile:
  • Great sounding 60’s-type pickup
  • Red with tort guard
  • Early 70’s look (maple fret board with chrome covers and tug bar)
  • Light weight
  • Flatwounds
  • USA made
Today, it all came together. A fellow forum member (@jmon) got this 2011 American Special Candy Apple Red in my hands. It has a wonderful Aguilar 60’s Era pickup in it. I had all the hardware and flats, so it all came together wonderfully.

It’s punchy, smooth, and oh so comfortable. This thing may actually be lighter than my AV ‘63 P Bass, but I haven’t weighed it yet.

I have a Jamerson-ish project about to start; I think this will fit nicely with the tonal needs.
