NBD: Bright Guitars Pelican Bass

Just got this delivered today. It's made by a great luthier in Bellingham, Washington named Will Bright who operates under the name Bright Guitars. This bass is very light, 7 lbs 2 oz. It's got an acoustic style bridge which is pretty cool and unusual. I know single-cut basses are love/hate, but I think this looks fantastic.

The woods used are all American, Bright makes an effort to source and use domestic woods as much as possible. It has an alder body with a flame maple top, maple neck, and persimmon fingerboard and bridge. Hipshot USA tuners. The neck has a black gloss finish, and is very very comfortable. I love the color of this bass! It's got a pretty serious cutaway so you can get way up high if you want to!

This bass is one of the best sounding (dare I say best) P-style basses I have ever heard, and that's going up against my Custom Shop Fender. I will do a head to head comparison later tonight. Will Bright winds the pickups for many of his instruments, this one included. The sound/tone is phenomenal.

I ordered this bass direct from Will Bright on Reverb and he was a joy to work with and set it up how I liked it. I have no doubts that ordering an instrument from him from the ground up would be an enjoyable and smooth experience as well.

Overall, I absolutely love this bass and wanted to bring some attention to an undermentioned and very talented luthier. I highly recommend his work.

Thanks for looking!

PS: This is a desk several of us share at work, please excuse the mess! :)
