I'd be really tempted to put a clear pickguard on there... but then my sense of style is a bit of a highwire act.
Did you have to router the neck pocket to fit the Cabronita neck or was it a straight fit?
I'm DYING to add one of those to the squad. I played one a few years back and it felt RIGHT. I have one of the necks paired with a white "Dirnt" slab-body and it's my go-to...nice score~
You probably already know this, but be careful with your thumb. These pickups weren't designed to have people resting their thumbs on them. I have the chrome cover and find it very comfortable to rest my thumb on it. On the other hand, Dusty Hill has been doin it for years, so do what you want. Beautiful bass, btw!
I didn't know that but it makes sense. It doesn't feel like I'm pressing my thumb against something strong enough to take the pressure over time.
I don't understand this pickup design. Not how it works, but why it's installed the way it is. The space around pickup. It looks like more wood than necessary is routed out, but this is how all single coil p's seem to be.
My cabronita neck was just a smidgen too tight. While test-fitting it into the pocket it chipped the surrounding paint. Doh!! So be careful.
On the upside, i then had permission to refinish the whole bass.
I just bought one from a fellow TB member. Really nice bass with a good solid tone. It can certainly use a set up and maybe some tape wounds.
Congrats! I have the butterscotch blonde one with the black pickguard. I picked it up from a fellow TB'r a year or two ago with a Basslines SCPB-3 Quarter-Pounder in it. Right now I have some half rounds on it and it kills!
