I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
Great cause my dad died of it at age 93 but I can honestly say that my dad up in heaven would totally haunt me if I spent $7,000.00 on a Musicman bass. And I am very sure Sterling Ball is writing off this expense. He is a very smart businessman. I can't tell you what to do with your $ my fellow bassist but in IMHO in this day and age 7 g's could go a long way towards other things! But I will not piss on your parade. Enjoy and cherish that bass!
I didn't buy one. I'd just flat-out donate the money, too...not an EBMM fan. But, neat if ya are.
Can't wait for all those who've trashed Fender for having distressed finishes to swallow their gum.

Are you certain they didn't just send you Cliff's actual bass? That looks literally identical....

Cliff himself cleaned it before he shipped his actual bass of to the OP to be sold as #27. They only made 26 copies.

Great photos. Is the finish poly or nitro? Your bass's finish looks like it's been worn down through body contact, which you'd expect with nitrocellulose. My 1987 Stingray is poly and chips instead of wears through. And the finish at points of body contact turn milky rather than wears through.
I believe it's nitro. I believe EB has a podcast that starts with an interview with Cliff and then ends with one of the folks who worked on these for the last year +. He referenced working with nitro. And it sure smells like nitro as well...

Awesome bass! I had to switch from my phone to my desktop to appreciate the attention to detail! That's gotta be the most natural relic job I've ever seen!
