Since it seems many of own an L2000 or L2500 I have a question: this is a very versatile instruments with hundreds of tone available covering some "vintage" sound, to more modern ones (and that is one of the main reasons I bought it), but I am a big fan of flatwounds. Any of you uses flats on G&Ls? Does it makes sense?

I believe most use nickle's (it seems to tame the beast) and some use flats.

DR's are a good choice. Low Riders, Sun Beams or High Beams are popular strings.

Many do. I've personally tried many varieties and settled on Dean Markley Blue Steels. They're surprisingly warm strings and a very versatile fit on my US L-2500 and Epiphone Jack Casady. They can cover both ends of the vintage/modern spectrum on the L-2500.

Currently is strung with DR Low Riders and I have sunbeams on my J. I like nickels, but I love flats. I was thinking of some modern flats like Eb cobalt...too much for the beast?

Classic. They are much warmer than the stainless steel label would suggest. I prefer them to Sunbeams or D'Addario XLs and find them more organic-sounding on the L-2500, even though those other two are nickel.

I've used both Chromes and 9050s on my L-2000s. I'be decided I'm not a fan of Chromes in general, but I really liked the 9050s. The only reason I took them off was to move them onto my LB-100. Right now, my Ls are wearing DR Fat Beams, which I really like. But I'm planning to string one of my two Ls with 9050s when the DRs die.

I have rounds on mine. Possibly half rounds or ground, cuz they're really comfortable. They were on the bass when I bought it. I need to figure out what they are cuz I like em alot..
