One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in all my buying & selling of gear is letting my Nash PB57 go. I’ve played so many really nice precisions and for some reason, nothing fits me quite like a Nash.

So this black beauty just arrived from Mesa-Boogie/Hollywood. It sounds and plays just as nice as the one I let go. I did a string change and a quick setup and this thing is fire. I dig the color, the matte finish, the gold anodized scratchplate and the fat tone of the Lollar pickup. I’m not a huge relic fan but this one is tastefully done.

This bass is lightweight (8lb 3oz) & tight. The action is ridiculous and it has that nice rasp when I dig in. I couldn’t be happier.

Any Nash fans out there?

Looks good, mate!

Haven't tried one of their P's before, but the first time I played a Jazz that I thought sounded good in my hands, it was a Nash. If I'd never played that one back then, chances are I'd never have bought a Jazz. Was on the lookout for years after that Nash, finally pulled the trigger this past Spring.

Nice bass!

So, you bought a bass from Mesa Boogie? How's that work?

Don't mean to change the subject. Your bass is ridiculously cool.
Thanks man. It has a lot of mojo for sure.

Mesa-Boogie Hollywood is a guitar shop. I don’t know what their affiliation is to the amp manufacturer. I’ve bought a couple of basses there. Their current online presence seems to be relegated to Reverb, since covid. The physical location is only open a few days a week right now.

Someone from the LA area may know more
about it. Anyone? Bueller?

It’s funny. I’m the exact opposite. I’ve always loved jazz basses but I’ve never been much of a p-bass guy. I bought a heavily relic’d used Nash and couldn’t get over the tone. I just hated the heavy relic. So a sold it and got another. Technically, this is my 3rd one and I’m just so happy with it. The consistency among those 3 basses is impressive. The guys at Nash really make a nice bass.

I got a Nash PB63 in February and I love it so much I offloaded an American Fender P Bass to help fund a Nash JB63 build. Mine ticks every box and I can’t really see anything taking it’s place. The tone, feel, look and weight really cemented it as my number 1. I really like the Sean Hurley Custom Shop Charcoal Frost so I had Nash build their version of it and they absolutely nailed it. I prefer the neck profile on the Nash and it was about 3k less expensive. The JB63 I’m ordering is also going to be a Charcoal Frost with a matching headstock… can’t wait to see how that turns out!

Mesa in Hollywood is where I got my two Nash basses. It's a Mesa shop that does sales and tech, and they sell a few brands of pedals and guitars, and even a few random accessories. The staff has turned over a little over the years, but they always seem to have nice, knowledgable people there.

I haven't been by in a while, and I suspect they may have closed the doors with COVID, buy I'd think they be open now. The current website doesn't list any of there gear they did before, so maybe the webstore is being revised.
