NBD - U.S. Fender Geddy Lee

Are the tuners reverse turning? The one I tried had them so I assume all of them are. Weird...
I can't stand reverse tuners, in all my years never had them until a recent p bass I just sold, just can't deal...
Plays great. I have to put Roto's on to really compare. With the stock strings it's got a nice low end and a tighter grunt - leaves the CIJ sounding a hair thin. But, I won't really know until I put on some Roto's. The feel is definitely different. The body shape seems significantly different and the tactile feel of the finish is noticeably different as well.
Overall very different animals. I like em both.
Me too. I know some people love them but I personally can't stand them. I wonder why they exist in the first place.
To me they are just completely counter-intuitive, I was just forever tuning the wrong way. Like driving on the wrong side of the road...
I'm not a fan of the reverse tuners either. And on top of that, the E tuner on mine doesn't turn smoothly. Feels like it is catching or grinding. I took it apart and put it back together again but it's only a little better. So I'm looking into getting some Hipshots to replace them.
Other than that I like the bass just fine.
Actually, one other weird thing. The case candy includes regular Fender tools such as the 3/16" ball end truss adjust and the bridge adjust tools. But *none* of them fit this bass!

That's just sloppy of Fender, kind of outrageous...
Holy CRAP, the American is HUGE compared to the Japanese version!!! Oh, wait a minute, that's just the perspective of the photograph in the fact that it's closer to the camera. I only had one eye open so I didn't get the three-dimensional effect.

On a serious note, though, I think it's a gorgeous bass. The neck tint, pearl markers, and pearl pg are sexyclassy and immediately differentiate it from the past 17+ years' worth of black Geddys.

A real money grabber would be releasing a red bass...a replica of his Custom Shop Fender used in 2112.
OR his seafoam green Custom Shop used for The Garden on the Clockwork Angels Tour.
There was a TB member here a few years ago who did his own red Geddy replica and had it up for sale, and it was spot-on. AND it was the pre-pickguard version, which to me truly separated it (the actual Geddy version) from the pack (or the rack, in photos I've seen of Geddy's bass boat backstage). I will admit that from the aesthetic perspective I was a bit disappointed when Geddy's red one suddenly showed up with a PG one day.
As for the replica that was for sale, I was several days late and many dollars short at the time; I think I'd just bought a black&maple no-pg Esh jazz. I've been grumbling about missing that red replica for years, because the redGed was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen since I first saw a photo of Geddy standing amongst the autumn leaves with it.
As for the CS seafoam green, I know exactly where we can buy one. The Fender Custom Shop!
I always found the Japanese or Mexican versions had a cheap feel to me....this new one is in a different place.
That seafoam green is what really caught my eye during the show this past Wed. night. Love that color. Don't know if it was due to the bass themselves or just the mix, but when he switched to the T-birds I could barely hear his bass lines coming through. Very muddy. When back to either the Fenders or Rics no problem at all hearing him. Cool seeing him play a P on Roll The Bones.
But back to OP - congrats! I have no need of another bass now but if I was going to get another, a GL Jazz would definitely be among the top contenders.

She is lovely! I always loved the white peal blocks on a maple neck! Another nice thing, they have included the Pat. Numbers in the decal, making it correct - I never got it why they didn't included in the CIJ/MIJ/MIM versions. And, contrary to many...I love the reverse tuners! 
They are far more delicate-looking, and the whole reverse-thing is just a habbit. 
What is more, can you measure the neck thikness at 1st and 12th frets?

I loved my Geddys (I've had three), but I keep moving them in favor of lighter basses. My last one weighed in at close to 10 pounds. That's just too damned heavy for my banged up, hockey damaged back and shoulders. I'm sure Geddy's Custom Shop basses are several pounds lighter.
