Yeah, my Gators aren't very good this year. They could easily be 0-3 right now. The front seven looks weak, and Anthony Richardson has a lot to learn at QB. I think the coaching staff needs to use him better, though--not enough rollouts and read options to utilize his speed and strength. Not sure how Utah lost to UF, the Utes have looked good since.
That was a great rivalry. Both teams were often in the top 5. A few times 1 against 2.
That stadium is scaled perfectly for Ivy football. It's bigger than a high school stadium, but it's not a monstrosity like the Yale Bowl. The Yale Bowl is something like 70,000 seats. It was built in 1914, when Ivy football was the top of the heap and when an Ivy team could compete for national rankings. I don't know if an Ivy team was ever considered a national champion, but they were competitive until sometime in the '50s or '60s. The Yale Bowl is an odd stadium in that it was built by digging a hole and piling up the dirt around the edge to form the bowl. Looking at it from the outside, it looks like a scrubby hill with a big, low building on top and weird looking portals going into the side of the hill. Inside, it's a big, broad place with no structural columns to obstruct any sightlines. Too bad it's usually empty these days.This popped up on my phone today as a reminder what I was doing 10 years ago this week.
I get it, some folks dig the big time college football with 100,000+ fans, crazy tailgating, high performance NFL bound players, but that just isn't what football is about for me anymore. I've been to many of those kinds of games and some really important games over the years that I enjoyed attending. Let me tell you though, attending an Ivy League football game on a crisp cool Saturday evening in September in a historic old town like this game here in Hanover, New Hampshire is something special.
I recommend every college football fan make an effort to attend one of these games, and if you so happen to choose Dartmouth as your destination, look me up.

All I was hoping for was a win, and my Trojans came through! Escaping Corvallis with any kind of win is good enough for me. I really thought Washington State would seal the deal vs. Oregon. That was a tough 4th quarter...

The upsets and near upsets are pretty good so far. USC had its hands full with Oregon State and Kansas State picked off Oklahoma. K-State might actually be pretty good for a change. Quite a few upsets and close games that really shouldn't have been close: #1 Georgia struggles at home against Kent State? #8 Kentucky struggles at home against Northern Illinois? #25 Miami loses at home to Middle Tennessee?
That was definitely a game of two halves. UCLA won the first half, Washington won the second half, but UCLA did enough overall to win the game. The Huskies couldn't get it done on the ground.
