I am amazed at how with such great speed, and with such gusto, other brothers and sisters of the bottom end, will challenge you, argue with you, state "facts", whether true or not, when you reply to a question or a post. Hell, most of the time the OP is asking a specific question such as " I am interested in amp A and B, does anyone have experience with either?" And then you see posts like "what strings are you using", "are your pickups at the correct height"...I mean really people, we are all passionate about playing, about gear and we all love to talk about it sharing knowledge or a story or just an opinion, me included, but I gotta tell ya we all need to keep it in check. I'm just saying....

BTW - I am prepared for the slams, the slurs, the jabs...all of it, I just had to put this out there. Rock on fellow bottom bringers.

I came here to have an excuse not to practice, not conspicuously in my mind, but apparently so in my subconscious
it also helped me confirm that buying expensive gear when you can't play to save your behind is a normal thing

A while back I thought it was great that I got notified every time someone responded to one of my posts, but earlier this year I turned that feature off.

I'm relatively new here and I don't agree with everything I've read. Sure some people nit pick or get WAY off topic but as long as we all realize that is is a free exchange of ideas and there should be no malice attached to any discussion I'm ok with some flotsam (no, that's not a Jason Newsted reference).

Musical tastes and equipment preferences are much like opinions which are much like something else we all have. As long as we agree not to judge lest we be judged we'll be just fine.

There's subjective and objective observations with gear. A lot of people go off of "how it sounds" vs "the spec sheet". A lot of people don't specifically care about isolating the exact resonating frequency that their gear emits as much as it "works". And I know this isn't "all" people (love that common defensive assumption that absolute statements are being made when someone has a gripe). I think people in general do want to help, tho they may not answer in the ways people are wanting/expecting. And some people just want in on some thread action.

before joining i would lurk for specific information. i joined to have fun. and i have a lot of fun! i've made a few snarky posts and i have apologized for the snark because the fun here definitely outweighs the other stuff, for me. i really like reading the thoughts, opinions, and experiences of others. i enjoy the 'personalities'.

there are some 'full-time' snarks and naysayers: some folks are like that everywhere they go. it's not difficult to imagine why that might be.

I hear ya. I been bringing the thunder for 37 years, I know a lot but I always look to learn, there is a way to go about it and a way to not. Some folks just side with the "not" and I get that too. In general it's a good forum, it's just lately the aggression and what seems like raw anger has gotten my goat and I had to vent.

Me neither. But talking about a different setup like tuning the drum so he can play a melody, the sax or some melodic instrument dealing with a bass line, the bass doing chord stuff and the guitar making percussion. I dunno there is a world of possibilities. Or just placing the band differently like everyone in a line instead of putting the drum in the back with the bass etc, make it feels less like layers.
