Hey, looking at band management threads I'm seeing the same stuff I saw a decade ago. It's hard stuff! I can see how people are frustrated with (what can be interpreted as) monotony in the playing world. I saw the mention of gear tho and I mean, you can get an idea of what you're after from someone else's review but frankly there's what you hear, what your spectrum analyzer can pick up, and everything in between.

I think you need to buy a Thunderbird, since I spend 90% of my time on TB with my new friends in the Thunderbird club Ive had nothing but hassle free communications. After all TB is abbreviated for Thunderbird

it also helped me confirm that buying expensive gear when you can't play to save your behind is a normal thing

I always considered tb to be like a bunch of people in a park, with 50 different conversations going on. There is arseholes everywhere, including tb. I ignore alot of people for some of the reasons in your op.

As I've said sometime ago the forum is made of people with personal inclinations and tastes ... there are groups of users which are fans of a particular musician/band/piece of gear ... they are fans and often fanatics about the subject of their devotion ... its better avoiding those kinds of closed circuit discussions ... can't get anything really constructive from there IME
I've learned a lot from this forum, and successfully applied it too. It's helped me eq my sound on stage, decide what I really wanted in an instrument, build a pro rig without wasting $$$ on something I didn't need. And I have also been pounced on, but it comes with the territory I guess. For the rest of you, THANK YOU!!! I don't have any friends that are into bass, no mentors, all of this stuff was a total mystery to me!
