New 2019 Schecter Jazz Basses

The J body shape is not under patent. No harm no foul - this is an old, tired topic.

Can we stay on track please?
yes. right, sorry about that.

So yeah, these Schecters look absolutely killer. Company seems to really be stepping things up lately. I've been wanting to get my paws on the Michael Anthony model for a while now!

The MA is another model I like to check out myself. The USA Custom Shop version looks incredible.

There's just so many awesome things Schecter has been doing in the last couple of years - exciting stuff!

These look dope. Bound to be a big seller. Just wish it was a 9.5 radius, 16 is pretty flat
I used to think I wanted a round a radius also. One of my first basses, a p bass w 7.5 in radius which I once thought was genius. I used to think it was smart, but I've changed my opinion as I've grown as a bass player.

I have found that a flatter fretboard radius lends itself to more precise fretting. It also ends up resulting in less feet buzz, and it helps keep your fingers flatter as you fret, instead of curved which I believe cause you to cramp and exhibit poor technique.

If you have a chance try one before you poo poo it. You might find my logic works for you.

Damn those are nice. I do wish they didn't come with those cheap Chinese bridges though. Or at least make the hole pattern line up with a regular fender bridge.

As far as I can tell with them the screws are positioned slightly to the left, so the hipshot bridges don't fit. Do you know if any that do?

Bridge is Korean. My 004 has it.

The Diamond J (passive) and Diamond P they had a couple of years ago were killer basses (I love Schecter and think they are under-rated). I wonder how the new J-4 sounds compared to the old Diamond J. Maybe the same electronics (they both have 2 band EQs, passive, with push/pull volume) but the PUs are noticeably different. The old Diamond J used to have 4 large poles whereby the new one has 4 double small poles...
The Diamond P was/is one of the best passive bass I ever played sound-wise, used to retail for some $350.00 and come in a beautiful blue color. A bit on the heavy side though.
Today, I play a Omen Extreme 4, gorgeous bass, very light and great sounding. Highly recommend Schecter!

I was so close to buying a Diamond Custom P 5. But I would be buying it to gig with, and that weight (the one I was looking at was 10.5 pounds) was a deal breaker. And I've heard the p plus is a behemoth also. It's a real shame. Like building a Ferrari with an apple crate for.a seat.
