Double Bass New Acoustic Image 'DOUBLESHOT'

Maybe vibrations from the cab can move the head off its intended position?
I suspected that too. But I played with it. With the Clarus SL, it is sitting pretty solid. A little wiggle room side to side, but there are solid barriers for the feet to sit against both on the sides and the beefy rubber stoppers on the top/back. Youd have to kick it over.

Does anyone know if this is the same backpack then the Upshot ?

It is NOT the same backpack as the Upshot. The Upshot backpack is just a little too small to fit the Doubleshot. The backpack for the DS is being made by Mooradian, is very nice, and availability is limited as it takes them a while to make them. Many of the Doubleshot rigs that are shipping out are coming with an "IOU" so that you'll get the bag as soon as they get them from Mooradian.

Mooradian makes excellent bass bags and accessory cases. I've had my Walter Woods case for over 20 years and they are very well built. It's well worth the wait to get one. The padding is very thick and the stiching is first level.

mark, any idea if the series III clarus heads will fit in this bag alongside the DS? ;)

Hi Fredrick, Yes I am happy with the Shuttle/Doubleshot combination. It's a 4 Ohm cab so you'll get full wattage out of the Shuttle. You'll still probably run out of headroom on the Shuttle before the Doubleshot starts to complain.
FWIW I took the Clarus SL from my Doubleshot combo to practice with my rock band and plugged it into a classic Ampeg 8x10" cabinet playing my Fender Pro V. I usually drive that cabinet with an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro. I'd say I got about 70% of the volume I get with the Ampeg. I was able to match the tones I usually use pretty closely. I seemed to have more control in the mids with the Clarus but the Ampeg has, IMHO, better highs. This might be a comment on how "true" the Clarus sound is more than a critique. I purchased the Doubleshot to use with my standup and have had two gigs with it. I'm very happy with it.

Yes, I would. For the most effective 'personal monitoring' raise it up on a stand, or even a chair.
The last standup gig I played I put my Ampeg 15" in front of me to the left driven by the SVT7. I put the Doubleshot on top of it pointing the driver right at me. I could hear myself perfectly, no feedback at higher volumes, and the band could hear me. I got compliments on the sound from several friends in the crowd as well. I think this is going to be my normal setup for rooms without FOH.

So, besides Rick, have any of these reached the wild yet? I am looking to hear other demos before I slap down a stack this month for one(my local dealer does not expect his to be in stock before the combo deal expires).
I got mine July 20 something from Gollihur. The bag came a couple weeks later. S/N on the cabinet is 0021 so I feel like a pioneer.

Yes, it WILL fit. You can de-attach one side of the velcro "shelf" and the amp fits in sideways. Confirmed.

Quick gig report:

1. I brought the Clarus SL to the wedding band gig on Saturday, as a backup, but I was curious to try it. My main amp is a Mesa WD-800. The band is a 12 piece with a horn section. Everything except bass and drums in the FOH. I wear earplugs. My cab is a 4 ohm Tecamp M212. I am pleased to report that the Clarus flapped the pants and sufficiently delivered the thump as loud as needed. I had the gain at 12:30 and the master at 12:30. Not as much raw power and grit as the Mesa. It does have a "whatever you put in you get out" feeling with no color added, even when you EQ it (fine, since I have an excellent sounding P-Bass I was using). As a transparent amp, it worked great and I ended up using it the whole gig. It got slightly warm, but no more than at home practicing even though it was being pushed the whole gig.

Used the combo with upright last night in a jazz trio (bass, tenor, drums) at a small coffee shop. This particular place has a standing wave the frequency of the open D string. Last night it was not a problem. The cab made the whole range pretty even, with the high end singing through and the low end nice and strong without being too undefined. More than enough volume. I'd take it to a big band gig if it was in a dry room. Big echo rooms I would have to see. I will find that out in 2 weeks. The flat raw sound was the best I have heard my bass through without any EQ. I use a Full Circle pickup.

Only one drawback so far: I don't like the backpack. The straps are not well-placed and the thing is uncomfortable to wear, and I dont like carrying it because the way the handle pulls on the bag. The padding and quality otherwise is good. I just carried the amp in the amp bag and the cab by the handle together in one hand and my bass in the other. And that worked fine for me.

Mooradian is a very reliable company, you should definitely contact them with your concerns about the backpack, I'd also reach out to Rick Jones at AI and let them know as well. Ultimately,
I supose it could just be that the backpack isn't right for you carrying dead weight over your back isn't for everyone. I do often carry my EB that way though.

Its not the quality. Its the design. I'm not a huge guy, at 5'9, 210, and I had to extend the straps all the way to even get it on. And it still falls away from my back, and the attachment points are very close together, so it pinches my waist on the sides. It's not a comfortable carry. Trung to shorten the straps to make the bag hug closely to my back doesnt work. It just makes it harder to get on and off. I'll try to work with it some more.
