New Ampeg Venture Series

Or, is the RB line the consumer models and the Venture series a replacement for the SVT line. Nothing would surprise me.
Since Ampeg's proprietary power sections have been a source of high failure with past models, it was a smart move for them to ditch models like the PF-350/500/800.
Also a smart move to design new Class-D models with industry-standard ICEPower power sections. These modules have withstood the test of time overall, and they're easily replaced in the unlikely need.

Doesn't look like the Venture line is replacing anything at all in my opinion. Maybe they needed to release this to buy them some time to finalize a real update in the future.
Well, well. Isn't this interesting.
Not really... He wants a relationship with the product maker. In every single previous case, every amp he has signed on to endorse has lost its underlying development team somehow. They do have equipment in virtually every part of the world, too.
Never say never, but Yamaha and Ampeg are probably least likely to disappear like TC and Aguilar have.
That's not to say everyone has to follow his lead. I'm still playing a TC RH750, and hopefully it keeps going. When it stops working, if it can't be prepared, I'll shop around for a new head. At that time I'll look seriously at the Yamaha-Ampeg offerings, but in the meantime, I'm sure they'll start appearing at local rehearsal spaces and I'll try them.
I just got this Monday, and modified it for four casters. This unit comes with no side handles, which I was gonna add, but fortunately the previous owner already did. The towel bar is still on it.
Now I can just roll it wherever I want, spin it, shove it a bit to the side, and with big-ass casters it's effortless.

In the background through the door is a 4x12 I did this to, but it was flat on the bottom so the process was different.

The brief sound sample he had was surprising; wasn’t expecting that sound from an Ampeg. Nice to hear that kind of variation in sound though.
I was quite surprised by this. To me, his name is intrinsically linked to Aguilar. But I guess he could make decent music with a bucket of rusty nails if he wanted, so he'll sound awesome playing any amp out there.
At the very least, it makes me rethink my next amp acquisition...
Did you even watch the video? He spent maybe a collective 30 seconds talking about the amp... It's an 18 minute video about his mindset and what he takes into consideration when changing endorsements.
We get it, this amp isn't for you, you've made that abundantly clear.
I've tested it and absolutely loved it! I'm not sure if it's the amp or the cabinet itself, maybe a combination of both but this is the tone I'm looking for. However, the price tag for the cabinet is just a bit too high for my budget but I'm wondering since this is based on the SGT-DI, if I were to get that preamp how close am I to get that Ampeg tone? Would love to hear some opinions from those that have this rig and the pedal.
Earlier in the thread someone posted a video with Dino where he said they designed the Venture head and cab as a complete system.
What I’m curious about is where the “Ampeg” sound comes from? With the SVT the head is fairly neutral and the 810 is heavily voiced. With the Venture, I’d like to know it’s the head that’s heavily voiced (in the SGT section) and the cab itself is fairly neutral?
Might open up options if the “Ampeg” is in the head and doesn’t require the cabs.
Might also make a Venture on an SVT cab double voiced.
I listened to most of the video...skipped through some parts, but I can say this is far from an infomercial. He was speaking openly about his transition from one vendor to another. He could have went to many many other vendors, but availability world-wide was a huge factor for him. Makes sense.
I love the Ampeg sound. It is the sound in my head. No other vendor has the appeal to me that Ampeg does. Am I excited about every move they've made in the last several years. NO. I do think the Venture series will do very very well-probably better than anything they have ever made.
I can’t claim to understand the intricacies of the gear, but I can say when going through the DI alone on my SVT-CL, the V4B, and the V12…that sound is present on all of them. Same with the SGT-DI. Even without the SGT circuit turned on.
I don’t have a Fridge or the 212AV to compare with, but I still hear that kind of sound through my Eden as well as the VB212. For what it’s worth, both the SVT and V4B sound great through the VB212. I do think the cabinets contribute to a difference in sound, but for example I’ve also tried the Mesa D800+ and the Aguilar TH700 through the DI and my Eden and they were very different (not in a bad way at all, they’re excellent amps). So in that way, I think the head does have a certain sound of its own. Not sure if that helps.
