New Ampeg Venture Series

I picked up mine today. Oddly I went with the 300 watt version. Why? 99% of my gigs are using in-ears today this is primarily ear candy for home as well as for recording.

First impressions? I love the tone. It really does give SVT vibes as well as B15 vibes.

I played the Ampeg Venture in store, then played it with a pair of Phil Jones C4 and GK Mb410.

On a side note, I returned it today. I can get the same tones out of an amp that I already have. It is a great sounding head tho!

The Laney DB500H is my current head. Between the FET and blending the FET with the clean, using the tilt function and the preset EQ curves, I was able to pretty much replicate the tones. Your mileage may vary.

I basically recorded in the mix and couldn't tell enough of a difference to be able to justify the add.

My other 3 amps (Taurus Qube 450, and the Wayne Jones) offer enough of a difference to remain.

But it is impressive! I really did like it!

I just picked up a V3 this morning . I like it so far . Sounds like an Ampeg to me . It has a great clean sound . I like the mid sweep . Very seldom I want an overdriven sound . The SGT circuit does nothing for me . I get a better B 15 and SVT slight overdrive sound using my Genzler 4 on the floor . It gets in the same ballpark of the Ampeg sounds I like . With my Q strip I can get non Ampeg tone . Ran in thru two Genzler BA10-2-S2s and 2 Ampeg PF 112s . Gets loud enough for any gig I will do . Any louder I need to find a different gig .
I'm digging this little thing . Will fit in any gig bag and weighs nothing . If anything it is a great backup amp .
Haven't tried the DI .

Or simply someone trading up. 150 watts at 8 ohms would be stretching it with a heavy hitting drummer and no FOH support.

Not sure if it's anything like the PF350 I used to own in this regard, but pushing it too hard/too loud caused it to bark. I traded up 11 years ago to a PF500.

used it straight in to the system at a palce we played at last Friday(No bass amps allowed, per mgmt, hahhah). She worked like a champ and sounded great!

FedEx dropped this baby off today! So far I’m like it!! Very Ampegy (surprise, surprise). The SGT is HOT, I’ll need to spend some time with it getting the gain levels close.

I want a second 212…

So, overall how do you like it? Is it loud enough for most gigs?

I like Ampeg tube heads and old school midrange tones (SVT w/ 810 cab is my baseline sound), will this cabinet get those OG tones?

I wish I could do a side by side with the MESA Subway 212 and the Ampeg Venture 212. I need a light, fairly loud cabinet Thanks

Domestic manufacture, form factor, better power handling and superior customer service make it worth it to me.

I forget which Subway cab I tried (a 112 maybe, possibly a 210), but it was a good one, no doubt. Andy and the gang did a fine job. But that doesn’t mean that the Venture cab isn’t as good. Honestly, power handling with heavy duty cabs these days is about equal, and while maybe some might give you slightly more handling before fartout, they’re all limited to about the same degree and the difference isn’t usually appreciable.

I like it a lot. The 212 is plenty loud and very full sounding, very surprising for a 212.

The Venture VB-210 looks promising at only 26.5 lbs It is only rated at 300w rms 8 ohms. If running a 350w or a 400w @ 8 ohm amp, potential for an issue ??
Would love to see the actual specs on these drivers.
