New Ampeg Venture Series

Certainly Yamaha and Mesa both are masters at production and are probably working on a similar profit margin.
The reason I bring this up is the Yamaha 1x12 is $750 and the Mesa is $1K.
I've got to think that the extra 33% cost must be somewhat related to quality components or manufacturing.

Don’t know. I have nothing bad to say about either company and I don’t know about the price of components. I’m an end stage user.

I'm guessing maybe, though probably notsomuch.

The subcompact Mesa Subway 112 has a 400w driver vs Yamaha's 300 watts.

The Mesa is built here where overhead is higher, Yamaha is built overseas where it costs less.

I'll take youre Mesa Subway cabs & raise you a Barefaced Super Compact cab! :)
All kidding aside, I owned the Mesa Subway 2 x 10 & 12 cabs, great cabs, on the heavy side (with the casters installed). I own two Barefaced SC cabs, and they are lighter and sound allot better then the Mesa, Aguilar.
Epfani, (old) Ampeg cabs that I have or owed in past. I bought one SC here on Talkbass, the one pictured is the one purchased from England. My old rig a few years back was the Aguilar TH 700, and two 12" Aguilar cabs. The BF SC easily replaced the two Aguilar's. I usually only use one BF on shows, unless outdoors, then I sometimes use both. With PA support one easily handles a outdoor gig. :)
This weekend is the first time I'm using the Ampeg Venture V12 on shows. I needed sometime to work with it before I took out on gig....but we all know the gigs are the real test.
The other amps I have are the Mesa TT800 (which I love) , Markbass Randy Jackson TT500, Ampeg PF 800 & Ampeg V12. This is the first Ampeg product I've bought in about 10 years, if not longer. I used the Portaflex 2x10 cab, or 15" cab with the Portaflex PF800 for years. I bought the V12 on a gut feeling. I'll post after my gigs this weekend.
The one thing I still will say....$99 for the Ampeg carry bag, which is currently backordered, is ridiculous. Even the dealers discount is only about $5-10. Yes, I know Ampeg was purchased by Yamaha.I love Yamaha BB Basses! :)

I stupidly assumed that Yamaha would build the Ampeg brand in Japan. Sounds like they are keeping production in China like it was.

Sounds like you have lots of top gear and I’m sure lots of us await your impressions. I know I do.

I try to avoid products made in China as a rule, but so much of the gear musicians use is made there it's nearly impossible.

But I can say about Yamaha and the quality of the products they make there, that the Chinese can make excellent products if proper quality control is in place. I've talked about this often, but I have this Yamaha MIC acoustic guitar that is absolutely outstanding and I would favorably compare it to high dollar American made acoustics.

I'm adopting a wait and see attitude on the Venture products.

I might add that made in "d good ol USA", AIN'T what it used to b. Gibson, is one example. IV been a devotee to Gibo's since mid 70s , when I purchased my first. If owned "many" over the yrs , since, still have a LP custom, and a 335. Fast fwd to 2021, I purchased a LPj bass . So many cheap parts, flawed finishes. IV lost respect for my "beloved" Gibson..
Made in USA , ain't what it used to be

Mesa, Berg, ect. ect. have nothing to do with Gibson.

No idea what you're talking about....

Didn't know the corporate connection. I was just surprised that my lifelong , brand of choice, Gibson let my bass leave the factory, with a very obvious fault. Add to that, the volume pot becoming "intermittent", and general cheap parts (plastic jack surround)...
Anyway, I'm sorry if I offended, as I mentioned,it was unintentional.
