New Bass from Warmoth. Figured Walnut Top.

Dave, your Warmoth bass is simple, yet elegant. I really like basses where the builder allows the wood to speak for itself. Very nice job!
Thanks for the comments. The knob spacing was Warmoth's idea. 
Looks good with the Wenge/Rosewood neck (no gecko inlay) with all the black hardware.

I know its more labor intensive, but I really wish Warmoth would offer an option to have some of the body wood (not the top wood) come across the bottom of the body... Its hard to explain, but its something I've seen on Wal and Dingwall instruments. On this body it would look fantastic. Not that it doesn't look great as it is.
Basically what was done to this Wal at the tail end of the body would look amazing on your bass: Link Removed

its just an arm contour. they just carve the top wood away to expose the body wood. its done on jazz basses too, but theyre single peice and usually painted so you cant see the transition, if there was one.

J. Crawford: If I'm not mistaken its a Gecko, hence a bolt-on neck. Where the fretboard meets the body definitely makes you think neckthru though.

I don't think it's neck through, but IIRC some of their neck options come with an extra deep pocket.

There's definitely more to it than just an arm contour (i.e. non-slab body). I've owned three basses with figured tops, all of which had arm contours, and none of them have had the body/top wood transition that I'm talking about.

I think that's a beaut - and the knob spacing actually looks fine to me. The top two (volume and blend?) are right where you need them, and wouldn't get in the way for most players, I don't think. Very cool.
I took that pic standing up, so it doesn't show the body wood quite as well as it should...

Your bass woods are almost identical to what mine are going to be, except mine has a birdseye maple fingerboard on a wenge neck.
Still it's good to see some indication of how it might look.

Oh man...I love walnut it all its variety and that top is killer!!! Congrats and enjoy that thing!
I'm here. In order to get what I see on the Wal, you'd need a thinner core and thicker top to get the transition right on the forearm. 1/4" - 3/4" top maybe. It could be cool. I've seen one or two like that come out of the shop in years past. If you really wanted to do it, let me know and I can see what it would take to get one done.
BTW, great walnut top. Having 2 Geckos, I must be biased, but it looks great!
