I have the NV215 and the NV610. I bought the NV610 first just as the NV215 and NV425 were being phased out. Then a smokin local deal on a NV215 came along, and I had to bite.

I love the NV610 with my big rig (Ampeg SVPCL -> QSC PLX1602). That rig has so much punch, yet is so smooth and articulate, without ever being boomy. It can take a serious sonic beating, and begs for more. This may very well be a cab that I'll never sell.

Never used the NV215 too much until I bought an Ashdown ABM500RC recently. That is one excellent mid-powered combo. Everything that you have heard about the NV215 is 100% true. You won't believe you're hearing 15's - it has got to be the most articulate 215 cabinet ever produced. It reproduces mids incredibly well, and the top end is so smooth, but much more present than the NV610. It's a perfect match-up with old-skool amps like the Ashdown, Aguilar, or any high-powered tube amp. This one's also a keeper.

The Berg NV series has totally cured my cab GAS. I bet it will cure yours, too.

I am quite certain that Jim is not philosophically opposed to using neo drivers. His decision not to use them to date is based upon the performance (both empirical and aural) of the neo drivers currently available and upon his preferences as an engineer, desinger, cab-maker and company owner to strive for tone first, and weight-savings second. That said, there may very well come a time when Jim does employ neo drivers. In fact, it seems inevitable, given the improving performance of the successive generations of neo driver designs. But he's not going to throw neo drivers into a cabinet just to get his weight down. It has to sound like a Bergantino cab at the end of the day. Some of you might recall that Jim went through a similar experience with SWPS amplifiers (seeing promise in the technology, but not embracing the earlier efforts; then searching for and finding an interation of the technology which satisfied his design goals; then incorporating this new technology into a product line, the IP series).

So, sooner or later, barring some setbacks with the development of neo drivers, my guess is that you'll see a cab with the Bergantino label on the outside and one or more neo drivers on the inside. Will it be tomorrow? I doubt it. The day after tomorrow? Who knows?

Gosh, where to begin? I would try to reiterate all my Berg love/info here, but it's probably a lot faster to just search the archives. :p Besides, Mike, I am sure that you want to hear from someone other than myself and Tommix! ;)

On the Accugroove side of things, I should point out that I have had a lot of experience with Mark's cabs (I have owned 8 Accugroove cabs, and still own three of them) and I have a good bit of love for his cabs as well. The Whappo, Jr. is still a favorite of mine, and the Mini Whappo is probably my favorite sounding Accugroove cab. :)

Thanks. If anyone has A/B'ed them, I'm sure it would be you. Your collection is rivaled only by my wife's collection of scrapbooking supplies. ;)

NV425's and NV215's are no longer made. Best to look for a used one.

Jim has a couple NV610's left but you better hurry because he has told me that after this run of cabs that he is not willing to commit to making anymore. The NV610 is $1,029.00 IIRC.

Sorta. LOL I am sure your chops are fine. Since getting diagnosed with tendonitis years ago my speed has decreased a TON. Thank God I have good timing and feel or I'd be screwed!!!

I have a question for you guys. For a year or two I've been using a Mesa Walkabout combo that I've been very happy with. I like the combination of the tube pre with the clean headroom of the solid state power amp. And I have found that 12" speakers are perfect for the tone I'm going for. I play a carbon fiber Modulus 5er mostly fingerstyle with the blend back a bit towards the bridge. I like the fullness of the 12s compared to a lot of the cabinets I've played with 10s. They seem to be a little warmer and handle my B string better. I'll be keeping my Walkabout for practicing and small gigs. I've been trying to start putting together a larger rig for situations that require more volume and headroom. I'm trying to go with the same kind of vibe as the Walkabout but a bit more high end. I wound up picking up a Kern IP-777 tube pre, which sounds amazing without needing much adjustment. I'm at the point where I'm saving up for a power amp and cabinet to flesh out the rig. I'm looking for a full and balanced 2X12 cabinet that will mesh well with the Kern for a punchy fingerstyle tone. The main one I've been looking at has been the Accugroove Whappo Jr, which seems to fit the bill. I was thinking I would get that and a high powered PA power amp. But, the way you guys have been talking about the IP Bergantinos has got me thinking about the IP-2X12. It seems quite appealing to have a perfectly matched and well integrated poweramp built into the cab. It seems some of you guys have spent a good amount of time with both setups. Do guys have any opinions on which would be a preferable way to go? Price isn't too big of a concern, as I'm planning to use the rig well into the future if I can get it sounding right.

Well, I dont have NVs, but I can show some Berg love with my HT115/HT210 rig. Im going to hope to find an NV on the used market by years end. I may even trade the HT stack for the right NV. Maybe.

Dude? Modest? Not really, I am not a great player. Great players on here would be Mike Fredericks (the guy is sick - that he isn't a nationally touring bassist is a crime), Andy (KayCee) and Adrian Garcia. The only cats I have really heard play.

I appreciate the kudos I got from the PJ5 sound clips but I would consider myself a slightly above average player.

Man, go to NAMM and see some of the absolute hacks that have endorsement deals. LOL Wait, that would mean you would be watching me play. NEVAMIND!
