Just kidding, although my real question is just as vague.

If my preferred tone is round and deep, with a little growl on the side - i.e. classic P fretted and fretless with flats, tone rolled off a bit - which Berg cab has the closest inherent tone?

I'm using HS210s at the moment which I like, but I'm liking the idea of more supportive lows... and I'm hoping to shed a bit of the weight into the bargain.

Would the CN112's do it, or would I be better off going ceramic?

I'm using a MESA Walkabout...

With the right bass guitar(s) & right amp(s), I would think the NV412 would be pretty awesome for metal.
That goes for the NV115 (pair) as well, but I think the NV412 would have more inherent growl to it; of course some basses, amps, pedals will get you there anyway.

It seems this thread has slowed-down a great deal in the last few weeks. In part 1 and part 2 there are several brief discussions comparing the HS410 to the CN, AE to CN, HD to CN...
I would start in part 1 where the descriptions seemed more lengthy/thorough.
If you have enough patience and curiosity, I recommend using the Search this Thread function to enter HS210, HS410, etc. I think you'll find enough posts to answer your questions.

Guess what just came in the mail;)

Can't wait to try this thing out. I have a pretty busy June, and will get to try this thing out at bars, concert venues, and two outdoor festivals. First gig will be next Wednesday at the new Antone's in Austin, TX.

I was able to mess around with it for a few hours before my gig, but I did have the first gig on the CN212 last night as well. I play in a reasonably loud rock band. When we first started playing the tone was a little on the bright side, but still very good. As the set went on, and ultimately when we started the 2nd set, an increase in bass response was pretty obvious. I had to keep dialing the bass down to keep from booming away.

After the first set I went to talk with the soundguy to see what he thought of our overall sound and the bass in general. He told me that he had to double check the board to make sure he DID NOT run a DI, because it sounded like I was in the subs. He said "whatever cabinet that is...it's...it's awesome!"

Nice! How would you compare the vibe to the Bag End 15 stack?

There is definitely more bass response in the CN212, but possibly more high mid content in the Bag End stack so far. Once this cab is fully broken in and I get some more live band time with it I'll have a better idea. Tonight I should get a chance to really crank it up I hope. Last night was a hollow stage which kinda sucks.

The biggest reason why I started looking outside of Bag End was mainly to get more low end. The Bag's have enough and sound really great, but I do wish they had a little more to give sometimes. We do have a few songs where I like to dial in some heavy low end.

Having a single cab solution is great for me too. My car isn't parked all that close to my house, so I need to break out the hand cart and trek about an 1/8 mile. I try to do it all in one trip too. A double gig bag, pedal board, and a few other small items...coupled with 2 cabinets, it's difficult to push them over sidewalk cracks without them bouncing around and getting off center from the cart. The CN212 weighs as much as one of the Bag End's too...so that's obviously a nice bonus!

Thanks for the reply. I love my BE 15's but I've started looking at different cab options recently because my Fender Bassman 100T won't fit atop the Baggies. I'm giving consideration to contacting Don at LDS about a couple of wide 15's but am always interested in the Bergantino stuff.

It won't really fit on the 212 Bergs either, they're the same width as the S15D's. I was thinking hard about that one last week. A nice tube amp is still on my list, and the 100T is at the top I think. I might wait for the Mesa's to come out first. But then again, I do want something that sounds like Ampeg too. It never ends!!!
