Woo-hoo! We've got mudders putting on the final skim coat. They should be doing the final sanding tomorrow, which means we can start slinging paint on Saturday!

Now onto painting the ceilings in the waiting room and the new hallway between the "studio" and the showroom.

Congrats! Nice to have drywall done. Now you are back to your timeline more than others. Paint away, slap down some flooring and your good to go...well maybe not that easily, but the end is in sight.

Whew, I'm whupped!
We spent the entire afternoon and early evening prepping the showroom for the spraying that we're going to do tomorrow (the showroom ceiling and the ductwork turn black tomorrow!). We had to degrease the ductwork so that the paint will stick, and that was a serious pain in the toucas. It wouldn't have been quite as bad to do it on the ground, but we were doing it 12 feet up in the air. And when I say "we", I mean Danny. I pushed the scaffolding for him occasionally, but otherwise I was busy with some minor touchup work on the drywall & masking off the 80 ft of track lighting to protect it from the black paint that will be sprayed tomorrow.
So as much as I was hoping to see some color hit the walls today, that'll have to wait until tomorrow. We should be able to hit the ground running with paint tomorrow. Of course, that's what I kept telling myself all day today, so we'll see!
I don't know if you can get anything from this photo, but I shot it standing on the floor and pointing up at the ceiling. You can see the plastic and masking tape I used to mask the track lighting (this is just two of the ten 8' sections that are up there), and you can see the duct gleaming now that it is free of grease, stickers and dust. Other than the lights (which are already black), everything you see up there should be black tomorrow: the duct, the foam insulation that is currently white, and all the green steel work.

Our friend Bob Chew is a pro painter (not to mention one heck of a steel player, you may remember his playing from the 3 Minute Lovin' tunes I mixed and shared here). He's here to do the ceiling spraying today. He also just gave me a quick lesson on mudding, and my new skill is absolutely wonderful. I've always wondered how to do that right, and now I can make it nice and smooth. I'm already touching up my touchups from yesterday...
I will not leave tonight before some paint goes on these walls!!! Dammit!!!
Coolest thing so far today? Dry-fall paint. I guess there's a chemical additive that makes the overspray dry before it hits the floor? So we're ending up with all this fine black dust that can be sucked right up with a vacuum. Easy cleanup!
Man - what a productive day! Well, technically I guess yesterday was a productive day. I'm still here at the store at 1:30 AM, I just finished cleaning up from today's painting.
Before I call it a day, let's pick up where we left off. Bob got the ceiling done around 3, and we all celebrated with some delicious pizza from Sal's. Lunch was AFTER Bob cleaned himself up and stopped looking like Alice Coooper:
He had a hood and a respirator on, but he caught a ton of black paint right across his nose and cheeks. Too funny.
Once Bob cleared out...
